The Addams Family franchise is soon planning a reboot television series. Recently, according to the source, Variety has confirmed that MGM Television is making a new TV show about the spooky Addams Family. The source has also declared that Miles Millar and Alfred Gough collaborated to write the series’s screenplay, and Tim Burton is hired to direct it. Millar and Gough would also handle production work.

In 1938 cartoonist Charles Addams created the fictional household The Addams Family. Barry Sonnenfeld brought the fictional characters into life through his 1991 film produced by David Levy. The movie stars Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, and Christopher Llyod. It was a hit at the box office and collected $191.5 million against a $30 million budget. Before the film, David Levy also had created a TV series on the same characters in 1964. The 60s Addams Family was a sitcom with a 30-minute runtime for each episode. However, the series ran for only two seasons.

The team has not yet announced any network distributor for the upcoming show, which means the series is still finding a home. Tim Burton is one of the finest filmmakers in the industry known and nominated for awards for his films like Batman, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sleepy Hollow, Dark Shadows, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Frenkenweenie, and many more. Burton won the Emmy Awards in 1990 for the film Beetlejuice and the Golden Globe Awards in 2008 and 2011 for Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Alice in Wonderland, respectively.
The writer and executive producer of the series, Miles Miller and Alfred Gough have also created the action-adventure drama Into the Badlands for AMC Channel. The show ran for three seasons, with a total of 32 episodes. The duo has collaborated for fantasy drama The Shannara Chronicles for MTV in the United States and a superhero TV series Smallville distributed by Warner Bros. Television and CW Television.

The 1991 adapted version of Addams Family was nominated for BAFTA Awards, Academy Awards, and Hugo Awards. And actress Anjelica Huston also was nominated for the Golden Globe Awards.

The plot of the film follows Gomez Addams, who is sad for his brother’s missing. Gomez finds out that a con artist Abigail Crave’s adopted son, Gordon has a close resemblance with his missing brother Fester. Gomez’s lawyer friend Tully helps him to bring Fester back into his life. However, soon Gomez doubts Fester is an imposter; he does not recall the crucial details from childhood. And the story then gradually grows from there.

The team has not yet revealed the cast and any further detail about the plot. The fans of Addams Family is eagerly waiting for the upcoming TV shows.
