Before you even begin to interview doctors

Before you even begin to interview plastic container set though learn as much as possible about your selected procedure. The more you know about the risk factors, the surgical techniques and options and recovery, the more intelligent your questions will be and the more hard hitting questions you can ask.

Don't go into any surgery without knowing everything possible about what you are going to experience including the good, the bad and the ugly and don't go into surgery without knowing what to expect from your surgeon.

As you begin your research write down questions or concerns to broach with your doctor during your consultation and keep in mind the purpose of a consultation is twofold. First you are trying to learn about the procedure and address your concerns and ensure it is a good option for you and secondly you are trying to make sure the doctor is the right doctor for you.

Your consultation will also include your doctor going over your health history to look for any red flags that could indicate problems with your surgery such as having diabetes or lung or heart problems. These conditions will rule you out for liposuction so it's important to come prepared not only with a list of questions but also your medical history or records from your primary physician.

If you smoke, drink, take any medications or have any allergies these are facts your doctor needs to know about to help evaluate your fitness and to ensure you won't experience any unforeseen medical complications during or after surgery.

You will see your plastic surgeon before, during and after your procedure so make sure you pick someone you are comfortable with and someone who will listen to your concerns and address them.

If you need to find a skilled plastic surgeon there are a few things

that you can do to ensure you know how to research the best doctor

possible.

There are two important components to any plastic surgery- your plastic

surgeon and your research. You really cannot expect a successful

cosmetic procedure if you fail to do your research to make yourself an

informed consumer and you can’t expect success if you don’t have the

skilled surgeon in place that you think you do.

Your first obstacle is to find a skilled surgeon. Luckily there are

plenty of shortcuts in place that you have probably already uncovered in

your research to find one or two. The easiest way to know who you are

getting is to find out the qualifications of the doctor you plan to

consult. You can do this in several ways. Most doctors are on the web so

their qualifications are easily found on their web page, or you can

call their office and ask the receptionist who should know the

qualifications of her employer.

So what exactly are the qualifications you are looking for? The American

Society of Plastic Surgeons was founded in 1931 and is to date the

largest organization of plastic surgeons in the world. The ASPS governs

plastic surgeons who are members by requiring that the plastic surgeon

maintains a certain level of skills and only operates in operating rooms

that also meet a high standard of expectations. If your surgeon is a

member of this board you know that they have met the benchmarks set by

their peers to practice cosmetic surgery.

This is certainly a good place to start but don’t stop there. You should

make sure any surgeon you actually decide to hire for your procedure is

skilled in that particular procedure. Your best friend may love the

doctor who did her breast augmentation but that doesn’t mean that the

same doctor is skilled in doing your rhinoplasty. You want a doctor who

does hundreds of your procedures every month, not a few a year. The old

adage is true after all, the more you do something the better you get at

it.

Not only do you need a skilled surgeon who can handle any complications

that occur but you also want a skilled cosmetic surgeon who can craft

your feature into looking better and making you the best you possible.

Take advantage of your consultation with your plastic surgeon and come

prepared with a list of questions. This is the important part here; this

is where all your research comes into play. At this point you should

know almost as much as your doctor about how your surgery is performed,

where the incisions are made, how long your recovery time should be and

all of the gory details. You should be questioning the surgeon on his

take on these options. If your doctor isn’t up to date on his knowledge

you shouldn’t ignore this red flag.

So you can see how your research and a skilled surgeon will result in

positive cosmetic results for you and it is well worth your time to

pursue making yourself into an informed consumer.
