In Argentina, the story is different. Although the local headquarters of this international NGO receives donations constantly, the maximum amount received never exceeded 22,000 pesos.

"We have had important legacies, such as, for example, the property where the Pagola Home operates today, but for approximately 10 years that does not happen anymore," the divisional commander of the Buenos Aires Army Salvation headquarters, Major Raúl, told LA NACION Bernao

"We would not be angry at all if they donated such a sum," added the local division's secretary of finance, Captain Pablo Nicolasa.

But this millionaire legacy was not a fortuitous event in the United States. It is common for US subsidiaries to receive large sums of money from large companies. The company Campbell´s Soup - world leader in salvation army cars for sale sales of soups and preserves - also donated a million dollars, on December 17, to support a food program for thousands of hungry children.

"The advantage that these subsidiaries have, with respect to those of other American countries, is that the positive image of the brand contributes to raising more donations," said the head of finance at the local headquarters.

In addition to having places of religious worship and social centers -which include shelter homes for the homeless, day-care centers, nurseries, work guidance offices, community canteens and summer camps-, the local headquarters of this non-profit charity For profit, it has job training programs, night operations in plazas, train stations and hospitals, and emergency services.
