About This Game

Explore the pleasures and horrors of love as Vincent, a man with a hard choice to make: marry his long-time girlfriend Katherine or move on to the incredible blonde he just woke up next to — named Catherine! But beware! Make the wrong choice, and you could end up dead. Delving into themes of free will and the delicate nature of relationships and the choices we make, this action-adventure-puzzle game is an experience unlike anything else.

From ATLUS’ all-star team that brought the Persona series to life, and animation by Studio 4°C, known for anime movies ‘Memories’ and ‘Tekkon Kinkreet Black & White’, Catherine Classic is a masterwork in stylish presentation and design.

Features

A Choice to Make

Vincent’s heart is torn between two women. On one side sits Katherine, the girl who intends to wed Vincent someday. On the other, Catherine, who appeared out of nowhere. Both of them pull at his heart and soul… The story can take many paths, and the outcome of this romantic horror tale can go to unimaginable places.

Nightmarish Puzzles

Move the blocks to create a path and climb a nightmarish tower while fleeing from the monsters chasing you. The lowest levels of blocks fall as time passes. If you’re not constantly moving, you’ll fall with them. There’s no time to waste!

The setting changes each night, rising higher and higher into the heavens. The more stages Vincent overcomes, the more complex the strategies required to progress will become.

Various obstacles impede Vincent’s path. Some blocks are traps, waiting to skewer unwary climbers. Others explode, damaging everything around them. The sheep in the nightmare are desperate to survive until morning, too. They’ll get in your way, mess up your blocks, or even try to shove you off. You’ll need your wits and the help of strange items that can deal with the sheep, remove hazards or create new paths if you want to reach the top!

Three Game Modes

Play through Vincent’s twisting story of love, lust, and self-determination in Golden Playhouse.
Take on the tower’s challenges for high scores, single player or local co-op, in Babel.
Face other players in local multiplayer to determine who is the better climber in Colosseum.

I saw this game on sale and I thought, "Why not? I love Atlus!". So here is my simple and short first ever review:

Main Pros:
a-Great story. I can see Atlus making a movie adaption for this and that it would do well.
b-The game's strongest point, arguably, is it's amazing, well-fleshed out characters. You can't help yourself but fall in love with them.
c-The game has about 8 endings:
1-Faithful True
2-Faithful Good
3-Faithful Bad
4-Cheater True
5-Cheater Good
6-Cheater Bad
7-Freedom True
8-Freedom Good
This game has a "Karma Meter" system in where the decisions you make and the answers that you give to questions presented to you can change the outcome of the plot. The last stage of the game forces you to make answers that can change your ending, so check the internet for an "endings guide" before going through with that stage.

d-This game has amazing dub voice acting (as expected from Atlus).
e-The puzzles were quite a lot of fun to solve and gave a huge feeling of satisfaction when you beat them. They can be extremely hard at times though.
f-Decent soundtrack.

Main Cons:
a-The game's worst point is that it is short. The game's length is around 15 hours and that wasn't enough to flesh out the characters properly. Some characters barely interacted with each other!
b-The controls for this game on PC are very meh. Use a controller if you can.
c-The puzzles can get repetitive and boring.
d-The camera can get quite glitchy at times, especially during puzzles.

Overall:
I give this game a 7\/10. It was a quite the fun experience in my opinion. Get it when it's on sale and you have money to spare.

. I came over to this game after playing my first Atlus game Persona 5. I heard about Catherine Fullbody coming out in september and seeing this game on the atlus website lead me to buy it. It was well worth the money. Crazy good story and addicting puzzles. Atlus puts in good work into their games and it shows with a game like this being 8 years old!. Most people this game for the fun story, not for the masochistic puzzles. Even on easy mode it gets insane around night 3 or so. After like 20 deaths in a row its kind of a buzz kill. Wait till the full body english version so that you can skip annoying puzzles. I have to admit, this isn\u2019t my kind of game, but I\u2019m happy I experienced Catherine Classic.. I would give this a sideways half yes\/half no. It is an interesting game and that is what hooked me - I'm always looking for games with interesting styles or stories. I don't think the game is terrible. It is extremely frustrating and I am playing it on easy.

The devs are sadistic in the actual block play mechanic difficulty. I'm on easy with 94 retries and cutting through them. I don't expect to the be best Catherine Classic player that ever played the game - I just want to have fun with the game, not endlessly die and have to keep grinding. Maybe I just really suck - it is certainly a possibility, but I want to see how the story plays out. Dying endlessly, not sure if I am carving out the correct path - it is a grind with no reward. Maybe this is a metaphor for a horrible relationship in the real world and I am just supposed to break up with the game because I cannot win. Ever.

You are surrounded by sheep in your nightmares. Some can give you hints on climbing. I found the hints relatively useless and I don't think you level up at all when you talk to other sheep. There is some whiny overlord that asks you one question based on some sort of relative moral compass, then you see how the other players answered the question before the next level starts. I'm not sure how this figures into anything either at this point. The voice acting reminds me of Saint's Row.

The character you play is not likable. He's spineless and keeps getting himself deeper into a bad situation with his girlfriend and the girl that he hooks up with. Between nightmares - the climbing levels - you either spend time at the bar drinking, smoking, socializing, messing with your phone, looking at pics in the stall in bathroom or at work, looking at your phone in the stall in the bathroom. You cheated on your girlfriend and you don't know what to do, your friends give you some sort of support, but you have nightmares each night that you do not remember and it just seems like things are not going well for you.

The creatures that chase you in your dreams are creepy. Definitely some messed up demons there. There is a big baby that chases you in one level and it reminds me of something in real life, maybe that's why I am giving this a thumbs down - spare someone else something scary I have seen in real life.

I would say it's not a bad game and I picked it up on a Steam sale. Would I recommend it to anyone? I don't think so. I'm reaching a maximum frustration level on the easy level. There is an undo function because the controls are a little sensitive, but it isn't like you get time to plot out our course. The demon of the nightmare is bearing down on you always and if you take an undo it seems like the demon just gets you faster. You might want to see if you can watch some of the game play or youtube review to see what you are getting into if you don't like weird surprises when you sit down to enjoy a game.

I try to think of what previous games a game reminds me of, this one has me on that. This really doesn't compare to anything I've played before, except for some voice acting and the girlfriend reminds me of Bayonetta.. Best game I have ever played! I hope the new catherine comes out for pc I will forsure buy it!. A freaky weird puzzle game focusing on the story of a two-timing man named Vince. The game focuses around your relationships with characters in a bar during the day, and puzzle nightmares at night. The puzzles consist of moving blocks to create a path to the top of the stage. Certain blocks have different properties, like some take longer to move, while others explode a short time after you've stepped on them. The game has 8 endings, loads of small side objectives, and a randomized climb mode for people who are far better at puzzles than I am.

Also while there isn't any nudity, the game is very sexualized.. Boss is best girl. Do not buy unless you want to figure out how to get past the first cut scene while it crashes for no reason crap port Refunding.. Atlus is one of my favorite publishers and developers. Hope they also put Persona on PC, hell maybe some Shin Megami Tensei, but this game is great as well. As a port, I was not disappointed. As a game on its own, it's really good if you enjoy puzzle games because that is the core mechanic. The story is engaging enough as well. However, it shows its age in its limited choices that you can make even though there are still multiple endings. Regardless, I do recommend you get this game because it is fun and enthralling.
