New Air Jordans 2019, A native New Yorker who came of age in the '90s, Nordstrom VP of Creative Projects Olivia Kim has coveted iconic sneakers her entire life. In the 1990's, many of the avant-garde sneaker designs were made only for men and Kim could never find the ones she wanted in her size. Paying homage to MJ's most infamous moniker, this special-edition Air Jordan 4 is Blacked-out with an all-over pony hair inspired upper. Also, for the first time, the Nike Air Futura logo appears on a women's AJ4 heel, balancing OG details with fashion-forward materials. Olivia Kim, Nordstrom's Vice President of Creative Projects, and Nike are set to drop their collaborative 90s streetwear-inspired "No Cover" collection and there's one design from the colab that stands out from the rest: the Air Jordan 4.
Retro Jordan, That's because Kim has taken the classic "Black Cat" edition of the silhouette and put her own spin on the all-black design. The most iconic athlete of the '90s, MJ consistently burned his most heated rivals with scintillating play. His creativity with the ball, nimbleness on the court, and covert moves around defenders consistently threw them off balance, earning him the "Black Cat" nickname. Pony hair covers the vast majority of the upper, giving the design an aesthetic that nods to its source of inspiration even better than that of the OG. Better yet, the furry AJ4s are slated for a Halloween debut.
