Crandon Park is an urban park located in the Miami metropolitan. The geographical location of the park occupies a significant part of Key Biscayne and covers 800 acres with about two miles being adjacent to the Atlantic Coast Side. Additionally, the park has several recreational facilities, including a golf course, an amusement center, tennis center, nature center, and a picnic center. The tennis center, in particular, is the third home of Miami Masters. The hotels adjacent to Crandon Park are Biltmore Hotel Coral Gables, Royal South Beach Condo Hotel, and Miami Days Inn Westland Mall. The park is also remarkable for its esthetic value as it is considered useful for outdoor activities, recreation, and entertainment. The paper attempts to describe my experience of visiting Crandon Park, the activities I engaged in, the companions I had, the emotions I experienced and how they were connected to the environment.
My experience at Crandon Park was overwhelming because this place is truly a hidden gem in Miami. I had a business trip to the headquarter of writing elites. The experience was amazing and after visiting I realized that the residents were keeping the place for themselves for a reason. The environment is quite serene and can offer a convenient place to meditate without worrying about the rowdiness prevalent in most beaches. The highlight of my trip to Crandon Park was a four-wheeled bike that had a steering wheel and a shade. My young sibling, who accompanied me, found the bike exciting because he fit comfortably in the basket on the bike. By enjoying the bike service, we parted with only forty dollars for two hours, which was fair and worth the money.
The quality of water and the blue color observed resembled the scenario similar to the Bahamas. The park also has a bird sanctuary where one can appreciate peacocks, parrots, cranes, ducks, geese, and ibis. The place was well maintained, and there was also a roller skating zone. However, the zoo at Crandon Park was a bit spooky because it was empty and there was no opportunity for an observer to have a variety of animals to see and probably take pictures. To top it all, one would enjoy all the environmental features the park had to offer as long as they wanted to pay a parking fee of only five dollars regardless of the amount of time spent in the park.
The trip to the park was very rejuvenating because it marked my first time to stand up paddle boarding and based on the paddling experience, I promised myself to do it more often. I was surprised how easy it was to paddle the board. The water was shallow, therefore, one did not worry about drowning because swimming would be a convenient option as well. Even though we spent only four hours, it was not enough because one can spend the whole day there. I also found that the park was a very convenient and beautiful place to kayak. One more thing that appealed to me was the shallow water rich with sea life and beautiful sand bars. Some of the marine animals under the shallow water included sea stars, parrotfish, sea turtles, and the mangrove snapper.
It was fun to explore the various marine ecosystems as the instructor was giving a brief history and features of every species that we came across. The beach sand was also soft, and there were no frequent rip tides. Even though I was a few minutes late for the reservation, the staff found it necessary to give an additional two hours. The additional time was a kind gesture because it was out of the goodness of their heart, and they could not do that with everyone. The experience of being connected with the environment was superb because the environs were calm, even though, the place was a bit windy with threatening rain. At Crandon Park, what makes one keep in touch with the environment is the ambiance the park offers and the natural recreational facilities such as the Atlantic Miami beach and the tennis sports center. Additionally, there is no traffic, large boats, or jet skis to worry about. Everybody in the park was also friendly and professional at the same time.
The staff was also knowledgeable and showed experience and diligence in the course of their instruction lessons. If we had no instructor with us, Mr. Farcie, I would have not enjoyed the experience and everything the park had to offer. He was a young, exuberant man who had a sense of humor pertaining to almost all features in the park. He was extremely useful in giving the underlying facts pertaining to most features and experiences at Crandon Park, for instance, the kiteboarding lessons. I instantly loved this place, and now I think that it is one of the best spots in the US.
However, even though most of the features and activities were exciting and breathtaking, there are some features that ought to be improved and set in place. For instance, the city can make the initiative of improving and renovating some of the places within the park such as the aging tennis courts. In addition, snack bars were very limited, and there were not enough showers. Some places were utterly disgusting because trash and cigarettes were all over the place. Nevertheless, everything else was satisfying.
I found the experience of Crandon Park to be relaxing and convenient to spend time with family and beloved people because it has something for everyone. Children can have fun as my younger sibling did while there is also something for grownups such as skating and tennis. The experience was amazing and I would not mind spending some time in the park again.
