The NHL is focused on the motion for racial justice and equality and not caught up in an instant following the loss of life of George Floyd.

That was the message Kim Davis, NHL senior executive vice president of sociable impact, development initiatives and legislative affairs, delivered Tuesday throughout a webinar discussion on whether hockey could be for everyone.

Davis was component of a panel conversation that included J.T. Brown, a forwards in the Minnesota Crazy organization; former NHL forward Georges Laraque; LA Kings scout Blake Bolden, who performed for Buffalo of the National Women's Hockey Group in 2018-19; and Kelsey Koelzer, trainer of Arcadia University's NCAA Division III women's group and Dallas Cowboys Customized Logo a previous NWHL defenseman.

The panel applauded NHL players for speaking out after Floyd, a Dark man, died May 25 while in police custody in Minneapolis. The incident, captured on video, sparked protests world-wide.

Dark brown, who played for the Wild's American Hockey League affiliate marketer in Iowa last season, said it is important for NHL players and all of those other hockey world to keep to speak out.

The players on the panel shared their experiences of what it had been like being Black and playing in a predominately white sport and how they coped with racist behavior from opposing players, parents and fans.

Laraque said he drew motivation to achieve hockey from baseball great Jackie Robinson's autobiography, "We NEVER REALLY HAD It Made: An Autobiography By Jackie Robinson," to pursue an NHL profession that lasted 12 seasons from 1997-2010 with the Edmonton Oilers, Phoenix Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens.

Bolden, who was simply the NWHL's first Black player and may be the NHL's first Dark feminine scout, said hockey groups, from the NHL straight down, need to hire more folks of color in important positions.
