Sometimes when you’re familar of a song, let’s say the song structure, lyrics, instruments and everything in it, will you consider explore your creative self a bit to add some sauces to the song? This is what Spotify DJ mode is made for.
In the following parts, you’re gonna learn how to DJ on Spotify and on any third-party DJ apps as well.
How to Use DJ Mode on Spotify?
In this part, I’ll introduce two ways to use DJ Mode for Spotify and you can DJ with Spotify while you’re alone or with friends.
Method 1: Use Built-in Spotify DJ Mode
Step 1: Open Spotify on your mobile phone
Step 2: Start playing a playlist you want to DJ with
Step 3: Go back to your home page and tap the cog icon in the upper-right corner.
Step 4: Under Crossfade, adjust the crossfade time between songs.
Step 5: Go back to settings, then scroll down to Music Quality > Equalizer.
Step 6: You can adjust the low, mid, and treble parameters on the control panel or use the presets.
Method 2: Start A Spotify Group Session
If you want to have a party-like mode to listen to Spotify songs with your friends especially when you’re not physically with them, you can start a group session to listen together with your friends virtually.
To start a group session on Spotify:
Step 1: Open Spotify on phone or tablet
Step 2: Play a song and tap the Connect button at the bottom left of the screen
Step 3: Under Group session, tap START SESSION
Step 4: Tap INVITE FRIENDS to share the invitation to your friends. Everyone who joins the session can add or delete tracks on the playlist and listen to the same song together simultaneously.
DJ with Spotify on Third-Party DJ Apps
On some of the DJ apps, you can directly log into your Spotify account and DJ with Spotify songs right away. And here are some of them:

Serato DJ boasts itself the world’s best DJ software. It has the lowest latency in the whole industry, brings a lot of performance features (basically everything you need to DJ) and works with a wide range of hardware. It offers 8 colored hot cues per deck and track, 8 saved loops, auto looping, manual looping, key shifting, Slip mode, the already above-mentioned effects, and sampler and much more. All of these functions can be fully mapped to any MIDI controller.
Serato offers a Lite version which is totally free but limited in many features. The pro version provides all the features and it costs 9.99$ per month.

While Virtual DJ is a strong tool throughout, it’s an exceptionally useful tool for beginners. The software automates a lot of the setup and “grunt work” of being a DJ which allows beginners to focus more on the mixing and create DJ sets that make the crowd go wild.
Virtual DJ is free for non-professional use at home. Starter DJs can work on their craft using this DJ software without having to pay for it.
But Spotify doesn’t Support Third-Party DJ Apps Anymore
As of July 1, 2020, Spotify has ended supporting third-party DJ apps which means all the former DJs who use Spotify as the music source will have to move to other music providing platforms.
But here’s how you still can DJ with Spotify songs. Keep reading.
DJ with Spotify on Third-Party DJ Apps Offline(Latest Update)
Now you can’t log into your Spotify account on DJ apps as you used to, and Spotify is not providing tracks online for DJs anymore. So the basic idea of this trick is that you’ll need to download all the songs you want to DJ with on Spotify and then upload them on your DJ app as an offline source.
To download Spotify songs, you can use the TunesKit Spotify Music Converter. This tool only takes a few seconds to download a songs, so it won’t matter a lot even you have a large library to DJ with.
1 Launch TunesKit and Import Songs from Spotify

Open TunesKit software and the Spotify will be launched simultaneously. Then drag and drop tracks from Spotify into the TunesKit interface.
2 Set Up Output Parameters

After adding music tracks from Spotify to TunesKit, you can choose the output audio format. There’re six options including MP3, M4A, M4B, AAC, WAV and FLAC. And then you can adjust the audio quality by selecting the output channel, bit rate, and sample rate.
3 Start the Conversion

Once all the setting is finished, click the “Convert” button to start loading Spotify music tracks. After the conversion, all the files will be saved to your specified folder. You could browse all the converted songs by clicking “Converted” and navigate to the output folder.
4 DJ with Spotify Offline
After downloading Spotify songs to your computer, you can now upload them to your DJ app and start noodling.
