Why do you think that if something doesn't work, YOU made a mistake? There's plenty of botched software out there that works on some machines, and fails on others.

Catalyst never worked properly on my HP notebook, which had both Intel integrated graphics, and ATI discrete graphics. When I tried to force Catalyst to always use discrete graphics when the computer was line-powered, it "blew up", and took the HP Connection Manager with it. (Yes, really. I got it working again by installing the current version.) I'd like to install the current Catalyst utility, but I have no idea what it might do to the computer. (Note the detailed information ATI supplies.)

It cannot find the driver for the Vista 64 bit version. Support at ATI suggested I download the 32 bit XP version. That didn't help much and caused me to reload Vista again.

What you get is ATI Catalyst Install Manager, Version 3.0.816.0 Size: 20 MBytes as installed The drivers in my case the actual driver package remained as: Version 8.582.0.0 Dated: 2009-02-03 for ATI Radeon X1550 I.e. no change in the drivers. Why is this file stated to be the latest version of ATI Catalyst Display Driver (Windows Vista 64-bit / Windows 7 64-bit). Very confusing.

I've downloaded this update twice. Each time it fails to work. It seems to install properly, but when I click on any on the icons, it says there is a "Command Line" error of some sort. Now I have to go back to the previous version, or contact Support. . I'm obviously, doing something incorrectly.
