* SPOILERS. br>
But not the best film of all time. I can't believe The hysteria from other people who have seen it.
I felt the acting was extremely lame from the 4 hobbit actors, far too laddish and aggressive. They were chosen because they had pixie faces. Saruman (Christopher Lee) Bilbo (Ian Holm) and sometimes Gandalf (Ian McCellan) were excellent, they played the characters exactly as they are in the book. Gandalf was more fiercesome and powerful in the book, than he is in the film. I didn't understand why Gimli the dwarf had a scottish accent. The friendship between the fellowship was not very strong. I sometimes couldn't see the special effects shots clearly because they seemed blurry to me. The parts in The Mines of Moria are absolutely thrilling. Gollum was well done and the eyes were a surprise. The Uruk-hai looked the same as the creature from "Predator. The Orcs weren't as I imagined them, but the Black Riders were. The scenery was beautiful. When I left the cinema I looked at my watch and saw that it had been 3 hours long - it felt like 5 minutes.
I would see it again and definatly buy the DVD. 9/10.

There is so much one could write about the first part of the LOTR trilogy. One could mention that accuracy, they "by the book" filming. Another would point out the excellent acting. The stunning visual effects would be another thing to praise, not to mention the fantastic work of the make up artists and the costume designers.
One could surely not find enough words to describe the phenomenal pace that movie goes on with - a pace that doesn't let one stare at the amazing detailed Middle Earth, a real incarnation of Tolkien's brilliant fantasy.
And one shouldn't hasitate to cheer the effort of the film director, a man carefully planning everything, taking the best out of the most famous myth of the anglo-saxon literature.
Oh, yes, words would pale if one'd try to describe the feeling that emerges from the screen, when the first time the Nazgul appear. Or the beauty of the Elven resorts. Or the convincing and complicated Moria world. Or the fabulously well done animations of the various monsters. Or. br>
Really, one could say so much about this film. One could write a book. Or one could only write one phrase:
I can't wait till next Christmass. I need the "Two towers" now. Presto. ASAP. GIVE ME THE SECOND PART, PLEASE.
