The Odessa File movie was made in 1974 and is primarily about West Germany still dealing with the history of the Nazis and the Holocaust. The primary actor is Jon Voight, a West German freelance journalist, named Peter Muller. He proudly declares that he gets "jobs" from time to time. The truth is that he is a spy. This spy thriller has a fast-moving plot along with a love story. It all begins when Mr. Muller receives a well-wrapped brown paper package from his spy contact. He starts to read the sad account inside.
Jewish architect and carpenter Solomon Tauber and his wife, Esther, were brought to the Riga Concentration Camp during World War II. The camp was run by Nazi Eduard Roschmann, the "Butcher of Riga." When the Germans started losing the war, the ex-Nazis went underground. Decades later, Solomon Tauber saw Roschmann in Hamburg and wants Peter Muller to bring him to justice.
