GOT Star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Peaky Blinders Star “Joe Cole” Are Going to Work Together

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, renowned for playing the role of Jaime Lannister, and Joe Cole, renowned for playing the role of John Shelby in Peaky Blinders, are going to feature together in the film titled “Against The Ice.”

The film titled “Against The Ice” will be a directorial venture of a director named Peter Flinth (from Denmark). According to the announcement made by Netflix, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister, Game of Thrones), who is a Primetime Emmy Award nominee, and Joe Cole (John Shelby, Peaky Blinders), who is a BAFTA award-nominated actor, are going to star in the film. The streaming giant Netflix has announced today that the film “Against The Ice” will arrive on the platform sometime later this year.

The screenplay of the film has been written by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau himself in the company of Joe Derrick based on a novel titled “Two Against the Ice” penned by Ejnar Mikkelsen. The film will be originally relayed in the English language, and it will be produced by the veteran filmmaker “Baltasar Kormakur” under the banner of RVK Studios.

In case you have not heard of RVK Studios, it is a production house based in Iceland. It currently has produced an original show titled “Katla” on Netflix and a show titled “Entrapped,” which has been recently announced.

The story is set up in the year 1909. It revolves around an Alabama Expedition of Denmark with Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) at the helm. Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen made an attempt to disprove the claim of the United States government on Greenland. The claim stemmed from the idea that Greenland was a country split into two different areas. The film will explore Mikkelsen’s journey as he travels across the ice in the company of an inexperienced yet spirited Iver Iversen (played by Joe Cole), leaving the team in charge of their ship.

There are some spoilers ahead, so read-only if you already have the novel or you want to know more.

The traveling companions do indeed find that Greenland is one island. However, their real battle starts when they make an attempt to return back to their ship. The novel relays that the duo somehow do return back to the ship fighting intense starvation, cold, polar bear, and unfathomable fatigue. However, they start to lose hope upon returning when they find out that their ship has been destroyed and everyone has left.

After that, their battle for survival begins, and their mental capacity to hold breaks down. Starvation, insomnia, and fatigue lead them to lose grip on reality, and with paranoia at the peak, they begin to suspect each other.

All of the above factors make the story about an intense battle for survival.

All in all, the story is truly about friendship and companionship. “Against The Ice” relays the story of the survival of two traveling companions as they help each other in the battle against all odds.

Another former Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance (also renowned for the Netflix series “The Crown”), is a part of the ensemble cast in the company of Heida Reed (known for the series “Poldark”).
