Thinking about buying a projector but not quite sure which one is best for your home theater? This article explains the differences between most home theater projectors and what things you should look for when buying one. We’ve broken down our list into different topics that include: Room Size, Projector Type, Brightness, Budget, Resolution and Gaming. Before we start, let me tell you about RMS Installs in Atlanta GA. They are pros when it comes to home theater installations so head off to them if you want a home theater for yourself too.

Room Size

So first let’s talk about room size. The very first thing you need to consider before buying a projector is the size of your room. Depending on what screen size you want, you might not have enough room as the projector needs to be a certain distance from the screen. So if you have a really small room, you can use a short throw projector which can produce a 100 screen from a few meters away.

Type of Projector

There are mainly three types of projection technologies: DLP, 3LCD and LCoS.
DLP projectors use tiny mirrors to reflect light which is usually projected through a color wheel that spins to create color images. These projectors are the least expensive out of the lot. 3LCD projectors use liquid-crystal display panels and each panel produces a separate color. These projectors have better color reproduction and doesn’t suffer from rainbow effect that was common on DLP projectors. Finally we have LCoS which are kind of a mix between DLP and 3LCD projectors. They offer superior black level, great color reproduction and very sharp high resolution images. Now there are pros and cons to each of these types. But if money is no object you should go for LCoS in most cases.

Brightness

Considering how we’ve been conditioned to watch movies and shows on a TV which is really bright, it’s understandable that you want the same brightness as well. Always opt for such projectors that produce bright light even in living rooms during the daytime. The best option over here would be a laser projector. This projector puts out a lot of light without sacrificing color accuracy. The good thing about this is that its longevity is great and can last many years.

Resolution

Now next up is 1080p vs 4K. So considering how many 4k projectors we got last year you might be wondering of spending a few more dollars is worth it for 4K. Although 4K is worth the money but the main deciding factor is going to be your budget. Considering we’re getting a much bigger screen than the average TV, having 4K makes a big difference on a projector. 4K projectors are more expensive than 1080p projectors so just keep that in mind.

Gaming

Most important thing to look out for if you’re buying for gaming is input lag. Now there are several good options out there for projectors that have good input lag for the average gamer. However if you want the best possible experience with fast paced games then it’s recommended to have DLP projector. Like the Optima GT1080, it has an input lag of less than 10 millisecond which is ideal for hardcore gamers. Now unfortunately most 4k projectors have an input lag higher than 40 milliseconds which isn’t bad but. It might be a bit too slow for some.
So there you have it. These factors will surely help you decide on your perfect home theater. For the best installation of home theater at your homes, feel free to contact RMS Installs Atlanta GA.
