About This Game

Nine deities. Nine heroes. And only one champion. Mythical Greece. The land of gods, poets, heroes, but also of terrible monsters and creatures.

Numen is a fully three-dimensional action RPG set in mythical Greece. The player controls one of nine heroes, who in the name of the gods they follow compete in a grand test of their capabilities. Heroes who undertake a pilgrimage over the highest mountains, through valleys and deep forests, underground vaults and the scorched sand of deserts.

Numen however is no mere hack-and-slash game. It offers the player the possibility of tactical decision making, searching for enemies’ weak spots, selection of adequate weapons. It rewards those who are able to adapt to the changing situation on the battlefield. In this the player is helped by the unique powers and abilities invested in him or her by the god he or she follows, provided that the god is happy with him or her. The Olympian gods, after all, are renowned for their wanton and unpredictable nature…

Also theres only one ruin in this ♥♥♥♥ing game. So 10/10 for the drowning, 10/10 for the ruin, so thats a 20/10 for this game! Better then diablo. I wish I could like this game.
I started playing it, thinking it would be like god of war, but when I really started, I found out that this game is another boring RPG (but this one isn't online).
It starts with many weird videos and then go on to the long dialogues. I hate these so I just skipped them all.
I went outside and the tutorial told me how to play, I went to a spider and hit the "2" key rapidly 'till it died.
I took it's items and went on, killing more and more spiders. I killed them all, and went back to the village, more dialogues and its BORING.
I stopped playing there, this game is like a normal online RPG but that isn't online.
Nothing special about it.. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as ♥♥♥♥.. So I've finished this game. It took me somewhat 16 hours. Do I recommend it? Well it depends on whoever reads this. This game is pretty old now when I write this review. It's been good 9 years but I still was able to enjoy it..
But as I mentioned before it really depends on a type of person who reads this. Now let's get to the main points.

As you see the game events take place in Ancient Greece.. Not even Ancient but Mythical. It has a connection to those old stories you possibly heard. Also what I want to add.. This game brought so many memories to me as it was almost my first somewhat RPG game... x)
Ok, so, one more thing to mention. It feels like a MMORPG game.. So I've recently finished leveling a character to level 60 in WoW Vanilla too.. I enjoyed leveling experience there too. It was easier than WoW though haha
Now to the points:

What I liked in this game.

• Greece. Yeah. I absolutely loved the setting of this game. I remember reading Greek myths and being so excited by them.. Now I could have a small window into this beautiful world through this game.
  
• Leveling process. As I mentioned before, it's very similar to some MMORPGs but it doesn't make it bad. You get levels pretty fast and watch your character getting stronger with each one. Getting new gear feels rewarding and it's not exactly boring.
  
• A bit of riddles and puzzles. It was interesting to me to solve some of the game tricky questions. There are a few ones..

So in a few words I'd like to add.. The story keeps you until the end and the "questing experience" is better than in some old MMORPGs.

Now let's get to the cons.

• The story. Right, I mentioned it being good for questing. But in the end it feels.. somehow unfinished? It tells a full story but it just doesn't satisfy you with everything.. I think you understand it.
  
• Bugs. During my walkthrough I encountered quite a few bugs. The game can crash sometimes too. That's the worst one of them though.
  
• Lack of content for some people. This game is pretty small.

So.. some final opinion in the end. As I said in the beginning, if you'd enjoy the game depends on a person. But what I can say.. If you like leveling your character in MMORPGs just for the sake of leveling.. are curious about Mythical Greece.. then this game might suit you. For its price it isn't that bad. Overall it was a positive experience for me. :). iz preety dank. I enjoyed this game quite a bit. I bought it back around the time it released for full price, and I never regretted it. And even now years later I look back fondly on this game.
I think I may play it again as one of the other classes...
You can choose three basic classes - warrior, ranger, mage. Later on you get to choose your god based on which class you choose (3 per class iirc). These choices add certain other abilities. But they do not seem to make a ton of difference from what I saw. But it was still a neat idea.

The game is fairly basic, and the combat lacks weight (feels like you are hitting air).
But If you enjoy MMOs or mythology, you will probably enjoy this. It does not take a lot of time to finish it (30 hrs, and I am one of thos egamers that explores every nook and cranny and goes back to previous areas to re-explore after important plot events).

It is a good in between game while you are waiting for something else to release.

The story was nothing spectacular, but definitely enough to keep me wanting to see more. I was definitely engaged.. Fun, simple but charming RPG with a Greek mythological theme. THe game is not too deep, and actually plays more like an "offline-MMO" than a true RPG, but offers enough to hold your interest if the game appeals to you. Try it when It's on sale.. Numen: Contest of Heroes<\/i><\/b> is a third-person hack & slash RPG. Having demonstrated enormous courage as a child, you are selected by a Greek God to be its hero and must compete against those of other Gods in order to find the Sickle of Kronos first.

Pros<\/b>: You get to pick from a boy or a girl, although can't actually customize your appearance. When beginning the game, you are given the option of using different weapons, and your class is determined by the type you used the most. Your mastery of any weapon comes from using it. Each of the three classes allows you to pick from three different Gods to be the champion of, so the game offers a total of nine sets of spells and powers. There is a large variety of equipment you can find (common, enchanted, rare and unique) and may equip up to 16 at a given time. Some of the items you find are only good for one gender, but can be refitted to your character. Rather than being class-specific, items are attribute-specific, meaning a mage that works strongly enough on its Strength will be able to use that badass sword usually meant for Warriors. Graphics are ok, most textures are pretty good, and each piece of equipment have a different look on your character.

Cons<\/b>: The writing is bad: sure, I spotted several typos and even apparent missing words, but the bland story itself is badly written with many mistakes about Greek mythology (example: Neptune is NOT a Greek God), you never actually feel like you're playing in Greece. The game lags and drops in frame rate when looking too far away. Combat is uninteresting, you click on the opponent once and look at the character fight, this game should've been an isometric hack & slash, but that would probably make the tiny size of the maps too obvious, or the comparison to Titan Quest<\/i><\/a> (a much better Greek mythology RPG) too easy. There is little to no development, interactions with other champions are very limited and fighting them in arena battles is lackluster. The game is short, very few main or side quests, no branching paths, save a few short class-specific quests in the early game. The game itself would be over quickly if you didn't spend that much time grinding for levels, the first few hours of which is so tedious that I almost stopped playing (although the grinding got less annoying a few hours in).

Verdict<\/b>: \u2605\u2605\u2606\u2606\u2606 - Forget it

I've seen worst, but it doesn't excuse Numen: Contest of Heroes<\/i> from being an uninteresting game that offers no surprise, no excitement, and no replay value. If you have it in your library AND have the patience to tough it through the boring introductory level, you might as well play through it to get it over with, but I otherwise don't see how I can recommend to someone to purchase this.
