New update "Liquid Hazard" is live!:
After the launch we made some smaller improvements but since then we've been working like crazy to give you a bigger update. It includes quite a lot but most of the work really can't been seen in this list. We've rewritten large parts of the codebase, improved our tools and added tons of new features to the engine which should enable us to do a lot more cool stuff faster from now on.

A few examples of what this enables are the new liquid hazards and nitro pickups. They show off bigger systems that can leverage other types of objects and gameplay bending effects. Let's see what we come up with. And as always, let us know what works and not, that's the whole point of Early Access! We want an extraordinary game for the full release later this year that is a ton of fun. Well, here's the traditional list of coolness to enjoy, or just get playin' right now and experience it for yourself!

We won't increase the price for this update but may soon once more content gets in there so take the opportunity to buy now while it's cheap!

New features. Preview of upcoming update!:
We just posted a brief summary of our work with steering options to Twitter. Check out the screenshot with our beautiful input curve :)

https://twitter.com/roadclubgame/status/1012811139791622145. Spring update news!:
Hello everyone,

Just wanted to give you a quick progress update on our next update. We're still hard at work with the code upgrade I mentioned in the previous post but we're starting to see the light to exit the tunnel grow bigger. The worst part is over and things are coming together again.

Here are some hard data (and very rough estimates) of where we are with the major upcoming features, to give you an idea of how close we are:

  • Improved weather system: 99% complete
  • Editor public release: 95% complete
  • 4-player multiplayer support: 90% complete
  • Reset car to track: 80% complete
  • New race mode system: 65% complete

As you see, we've come far but there's still some work needed. We will release a big "Spring update" with all of these features at once when they are all good enough. We might release earlier in beta to let you test the new stuff ahead of the public release.

Alright, so that's where we are. Hope you're not too discouraged, but rather encouraged to follow the progress! And as always, let us know what you think of what we're doing.

Until next time!
/Benny. Next update progress news!:
Hiya everyone!

Thought I'd bring you an update on how we're doing. Although we haven't said much, a lot has been going behind the scenes.

Thanks to some happy circumstances I managed to convince my boss to let me work 80% on my regular job and therefore get 20% quality time with Roadclub every week for a while! And lately Ralf got a good deal with his dayjob boss allowing him to work a lot on the game AT his work for a few weeks. This meant we suddenly had a lot more time than usual on our hands to work on the game.

We didn't waste this opportunity and decided to add some more stuff to the next update that we've been wanting to do for a long time. This means the next update will be more ambitious but the good news is we'll have some really cool stuff for you guys when it is done!

It's actually not that far off. We've started merging all our feature branches and are closing in on testing and final polish so we're probably talking a few weeks at this point.

We haven't gotten any bug reports for a while so instead of making another hotfix we're focusing on the next big one. You'll have to wait a bit longer for it though but we're sure it is worth it!

With holidays coming up work might slow down, or speed up depending on how much we actually manage to slow down and recover energy over christmas and new year's. I don't really know how much we'll work but it'll work out!

OK, rambling over. Thanks so much everyone who have supported Roadclub during its early access year, it's been a blast reading your comments, ideas and reviews! Release is drawing closer (but we'll stay in early access for a while longer, it isn't good enough yet!), see you in 2018!

Take care everyone and happy holidays!
/Benny and Ralf. Roadclub: League Racing is out now on Early Access!:
We've launched the game! It's available for immediate purchase and play!

We hope you enjoy Roadclub, but if not it's early access for a reason: Let us know in Discissions what you think!

/Benny. One-month anniversary! Thank you!:
Hey everyone!

It's already been one month since we launched the game on Steam! During this time we've released two smaller updates and have almost completed a big one, have 10-something youtubers and twitch streamers play the game and of course even gotten a few new players checking out the game!

Like I've said before we've tried to factor in all the feedback you've given in the steam discussion forums, videos or on Twitter.

In case you missed it we now also have our own Discord channel you can join. If you don't know, Discord is a popular chat app for gamers. It's easy and free and we'll post new stuff the minute we have anything new to show. And as a bonus you get the ability to discuss the game directly with us! Just follow the link to join and discord will do the rest: https://discord.gg/WgzcYPZ

We've already incorporated a lot of what you've said in the next 1.17 "Liquid Hazard" update (in addition to the awesome new track hazards of course!) covering anything from gameplay, menu usability, accessibility to AI. Many more things are already on the way in upcoming updates (that should be smaller and come out more often hopefully!). As stated previously this first big update we took the opportunity to make some big engine updates that we can leverage in the future for cooler features and visual effects so that's why it's taking a bit longer but we'll all benefit from it very soon.

So thanks for playing and discussing the game and we'll continue to improve over the coming months to try make this one of the best 2D top-down racers ever made. I think you'll like some of the stuff we've planned, can't wait to show it! :)

Finally a humble request for everyone who haven't to leave an honest review of the game in the store. It really helps showing off the game to more people and we'll get some valuable feedback at the same time which you hopefully already know by now we're doing our best to take to heart.

Thanks again and we'll be back soon with more! Let's make the next month even better :)

PS. Oh and I think I'm still on top on way too many tracks on the leaderboards. Come on guys, I know you can beat my times ;)

Here's a tip: Play a custom event, choose 0 opponents and Elite difficulty and when you choose a car, drag upgrades all the way to the right. This way you'll get the best performance out of your cars with no distractions for the best chance of pushing those times.. We're getting real close:
We have locked down and uploaded version v1.11, a release candidate build (golden build?), and it was already sent to Steam earlier today so if all goes well we can release within a week or two. Now all we have to do is wait, and sort out any issues found in further testing but right now our critical to-dos is actually empty and its looking good!

The list of fun stuff we want to do with the game is never-ending though, just the way it should be ;)

/Benny. Price increase submitted:
Hello!

EDIT: Price was confirmed.

As promised we will increase base price to get it closer to launch pricing tomorrow. The price is now submitted to valve for confirmation and will be $7.99 and your regional equivalent. This is still cheaper than the launch price will be even with launch discount!

Since we last increased the price we've added 4-player multiplayer, editor, optimizations, UX (sound, visual) improvements, new and improved racing modes, cars, music and improvements to career, more tracks and tons more so I think and hope the price is still OK for the game. There really isn't many games like Roadclub as many customer reviews have said!

Thanks for your support!

/Benny
