Smith, a mob informer hiding out with the Witness Protection Program, decides to make a break for it and hide out in the Arizona desert. The Feds catch up with him and rescue him just before a group of hitmen can manage to silence him for good. In the course of getting Smith away from the mafia thugs, the pair of agents assigned to protect him turn onto an abandoned stretch of highway nicknamed 'Route 666' after the mysterious death of a prison chain gang. As the three continue on their way, they soon discover just what happened to the chain gang, and how the highway earned its name.
A federal witness runs away and a team of government agents track him down, but when they take a shortcut on the return trip, they're attacked by zombies.
Without even knowing what a films tagline is OR seeing a trailer, if it was made within the last 10 years and has either Lori Petty OR Lou Diamond Phillips as the "BIG NAMES" attached to the project, all I can say is RRRRRUUUUUUNNNNN!!!!

I can't even add anything new to the previous comments about the horrible 'cinematography'. All I can say is that if you do happen to watch this pile of festering dung, be sure to down a bottle of Dramamine first. The characters were as plastic and lifeless as the keyboard I'm typing on and the zombies? My daughter has made more realistic figures in her pre-K class during arts and crafts time. OK... Back to Lou Diamond Phillips. An actor more washed-up than Paris Hilton's under filled bikini top on the beach after an all-night bender. He USED to be a decent actor, but like the other minor characters in the 'Brat Pack' and similar people of that ilk, their time has come and gone. Lori Petty was great in 'A League Of Their Own' but, then came 'Tank Girl' and other crap that soon drug what little career she had through the ringer.

I don't need to dredge the storyline or plot premise out again, but let's just say that it's a movie, like someone else said, isn't sure what it wants to be. 0/10 stars Two federal marshals (Lou Diamond Phillips, Lori Petty) find a federal witness (Steven Williams) hiding out in a bar in the Arizona desert. No sooner do they catch him than hit men show up to kill him. Some more marshals arrive and they escape with the witness down an abandoned stretch of highway that is haunted by the ghosts of a prison chain gang that died there.

Williams is the best part. Dale Midkiff is good. So is Phillips. Petty is irritating. I'm not sure why she was talking with that "street" accent but it was distracting. The rest of the cast is solid. Cheap-looking but often funny, intentionally and unintentionally. Love how William Wesley didn't really know when it was appropriate to use slow-mo so he was just using it at random times. There are some funny lines. Not sure how many are in the script because some of the actors seem to be ad-libbing throughout the movie. There are attempts at being Tarantinoesque, such as a forced exchange between some of the feds as to whether Farrah Fawcett is a supermodel or not. There's also an annoying blues riff that plays frequently.

Definitely an interesting premise for a movie. It has some pluses but more minuses. The direction sucks and Lori Petty is trying way too hard to be...well, whatever the hell she's trying to be. Give it a shot if you like B movies but keep expectations low.
