About This Game

About
Runeous is a 2 part story. In this episode we introduce the characters and the main plot which will be concluded in part 2.
Each installment is free to play and serve as a beginning for our studio's future products.

This Episode contains roughly 20 minutes of game time.

Story
The story follows a small group of heroes in a world ravished by the wars of its past.
Runestones possessing magical qualities are what fuel the industry, their secrets long ago lost.
Humans research them to unlock their hidden potential.
Overpopulation in cities built for far fewer inhabitants. Homes built atop homes with giant walkways connecting the various levels together.

The world of Ceir'a faces a new threat. It is here that Leif, a young runic apprentice meets a Jacawi tribeswoman Eme. Together they must overcome the differences of their people and unite the factions to thwart the rising evil empire. Though not all is as it seems when the very fabric of nature begins to fall apart!

The story follows 4 main characters and various 'NPCs' who help the story along. Being a story of 2 parts, we will be introducing more plot essential characters in the second episode. 7ad7b8b382

It's short and free, but other than that...
I didn't feel anything for the characters, except disliking them.
The story has not yet really begun so there's not much to tell either.
The bickering narrators are annoying rather than funny, and breaking the 4th wall is distracting when the rest of the story is supposedly serious.
I'm not a fan of the art style for the characters, they always look either angry of monster-like, but the backgrounds look good.
The music is on short and on repeat, it's boring. No volume control , by the way.
Try it if you have less than an hour to lose, but it'd be better spent on another game.. Runeous: Part One ]

No real emotional connection to the characters
Art of the characters are decent but they do not look very… charming
Plot / story was alright but everything is just being introduced since it is still Part One
Music is repetitive
The narrators are annoying
Background is nice tho
. I believe this may have been my first actual visual novel game. Nice story, nice music. The only weird thing was the story took place in the year 600 or something and there were trains & electricity. Part of it felt a little Final Fantasy-ish. Like if Final Fantasy 6 was in visual novel form. It took me roughly 45 minutes to 100% this game.. Way to "linear" even for a "normal" visual novel to be considered worth the time.

So its all up to if the story is worth the time or not.

And I have to say; I am not invested in the characthers at the end of this part one.. great story can\'t wait for part 2 sound overlaps sometimes but i really did enjoy it cant wait you guys did a great job smooth transition from scene to scene. I'm recommending this game based on the fact that not only does this one have a lot of potential, with it's artwork being brilliant and it being very solidly written, even if it doesn't immediately grip you, but it's stated that these episodes will be free to play, and hints in that this is the studios first project and more will come. I will be definitely awaiting future projects, and I hope this puts these guys on the map, because they seemed to have worked tremendously hard to release this.

I've left my suggestions over in the discussion forum of Steam. The game could use voice acting or at least like a blip blip blip blip sound for scrolling dialogue. The story IS good, and deserves to be presented in a way that is more acceptable and gripping to more people in the future. Thusly, it needs to be quicker in nature, and the music could use being like 5 minutes in length or something, since there's more than enough time for it to play futhur. I recommend finding an orchestral composer for the project, and actors that treat their job like it's do or die, life and death itself. You need samurai actors and actresses! Improvement is needed, but it will be a good project, and I hope to see more from you guys.. This short visual novel wasnt really for me. But it's free, Worth it if you're trying out a different genre other than otome. Go for the achievements.. complete utter♥♥♥♥♥. Quite a decent VN given that it is free!

Story is pretty generic, but has a decent twist at the end (though not unexpected).
