I'm supporting the development of this game, so I realise I'm a bit suspicious when I "recommend it".
Nevertheless I want to use this to address a few things people might find useful to know when deciding.

- This is a labour of love. The dev has been working on concept for a couple years before the EA launch, and this will be carried to conclusion even if it take a little while since it’s a single person coding it.
- This is being put together out of the heads of people that are gamers for more than 20 years, and have thousands of hours playing. So there are a lot of cool ideas in the bones of Star Valor, either implemented already or planned.
- The idea for the final version of the game is that you can play it in whatever way you like whitin some basic archetypes.
o Trading, Mining and building commercial stations or
o Piratry, taking over commercial statins as part of your crime organisation or
o Leading humanity in a war against the alien threat or
o Leading the aliens in a war for their galaxy domination or
o Staying neutral and playing the sandbox without siding with anyone.

- The game is not there yet. It’s mostly a sandbox gradually receiving more ships, concepts, quests, etc. EA is in part to measure people reactions to the game and functionalities as they come in and make it more fun, and in part to help fund the project.

Follow the streamings in YouTube and you will be ablet to know if the game is for you in the current format or not. If you find it’s not, save it in your Whish List and come back to it in 6 months to take another look. It’s worth it.. SEAL OF APPROVAL. 10/10. You'll have fun with the epic progress of building your own spacecraft with lots of equipment and skill possibilities, and various spaceships with cosmetic changes. The game present an easy system, rewarding you by just exploring, or making alliances, or just going into space battles, or just mining or creating items.

Difficulty: 10/10 = The game is reasonable, the tutorial is enough, but it’s a RPG that requires thinking about what equips and strategies you will use.. Dev is very active in expanding the game, and is open to feedback..

This game has some HUGE potential and im always logging in to see what might comes next.. I got really tired of half♥♥♥♥♥♥♥space games. No mans sky, star citizen, space whatever all of the available titles fail.

Instead of persuing disappointment at a high price I decided to just spend a little on what I could see was good enough for my inner space pirate.

The one thing star valor has that no big title can do is simply not disappoint.
Biggest disappointment here is hitting the limit, and I have yet to.


Looking forward to updates.. I like the concept of this game, 15hours in, i would say its fun and have potential to be even better.

"Payback time" Patch - 27/july/2018:
Hey everyone, it's AI payback time (or not)
AI Ships got stronger in higher levels, had some BUGs fixed, and now there are bosses.
Enjoy!

  • Added Boss Ship, which spawns mostly in sectors with no faction control or Pitch Black. They are always visible in the sector map.
  • FIXED a bug that made most AI spaceships have the lowest pilot skill possible (bad aim).
  • AI spaceship power increased in higher levels.
  • Increased effect of tier 1 skills and reduced point limit to 5 (characters with more than 5 points in one skill will have all skills reset).
  • Increased warp distance bonus of Master Explorer skill to 3.
  • Items gained through scraping are now shown in side panel.
  • Renamed ship sizes to (1: Shuttle, 2: Yacht, 3: Corvette, 4: Frigate, 5: Cruiser, 6: Dreadnought, 7: Kraken), ship class (role) will be added later on.
  • Weapon slot heat allowance now increases for bigger ship sizes.
  • Reduced size of Heavy and Capital Impulse Drives.
  • Reduced Drone parts base price to 50 from 80.
  • Increased base stock quantity for trade goods.
  • Added Capital Impulse Drive Mk. IV and increased acceleration power for lower models.
  • Increased acceleration cap for ship size 6 (now named Dreadnought).
  • Increased turning speed cap for ship size 5.
  • Reduced heat and energy increase on burst modifier (crafting).
  • Reputation panel now shows how much points are needed for next rank.
  • Objects like asteroids or stations will not spawn in the center of the map (0,0) anymore.
  • Added option to change the speed boost button (default shift) on game launch setup.
  • Added option to turn VSync on/off in game setup.
  • FIXED save game on sector with no faction control.
  • FIXED freeze on "invalid quest" message.
. Patch 1.1.0c:
  • Now you can also store weapons in the bank.
  • Reduced 'Scavenging' skill loot bonus from 20% to 12% per point.
  • Added 'Temperate' Perk to counter 'Aggressive'.
  • Added 'Guardian Angel' Perk.
  • Changed effects from 'Aggressive' and 'Marauder' Perks.
  • Changed 'Sloppy' Perk to have no reputation changes, added other effects instead.
  • Fixed 'Sloppy' Perk being triggered much faster than intended.
  • Fixed a bug that locked reputation limits even after losing the Perk which caused it.
  • Fixed 'Genocidal' Perk being acquied more than once.
  • Marauder Hideout renamed to Pirate Lair and Marauders no longer attack you if you are friendly with the Red Skull.
  • Changed tractor beam to use towing by default and immobilize when activated with shift.
  • Warp cooldown time is now higher for bigger ships. There will be ways to reduce this time in the future.
  • Fixed weapon heat cooling calculations (was cooling a bit more than intended).
  • Mouse cursor now changes color to reflect the highest heat count from your weapons, making it easier to know when it is about to overheat (might need to increase cursor size depending on feedback).
  • Crafting: Slightly reduced heat generated by crafted weapons and improved several components.
  • Slightly increased Station Weapons energy cost.
  • Reduced AI difficulty from level difference by half.

Follow up updates:. Small Patch - 14/july/2018:
  • Added quest that teaches how to gain Tech Level (spoiler: scraping an item with higher tech level :)
  • Game can now also be saved near jumpgates on neutral or better sectors.
  • Auto-save will also occur when you dock in a station, not only when you leave, and when you get near jumpgates (still once every 4 minutes).
  • Aiming crosshair remade to contrast better with both bright and dark sectors
  • Changed default key for attack drones from 'M' to 'J' (since M is galaxy map)
  • Reduced collision (bump) damage, specially against heavy objects like stations, asteroids and big ships.
. Patch 1.1.0d (updated):
  • Added Perks: 'Pirate', 'Rebel', Indoctrinated', 'Anaximander' and 'Acquired Wisdom'.
  • Fixed Boss drops that were being too high level sometimes.
  • Increased minimum level for AI ships to use "Hit and Run" tactic, from 6 to 10. Elites can still use it after level 5.
  • Reduced strafe and acceleration cap for small ships (some were moving way too fast).
  • Fixed tractor beam immobilizing and slowing effects to use the same force calculations. You´ll need more than one to affect bigger ships with stronger drives.
  • Fixed Drone damage to count as his owner.

I'm glad to announce the Star Valor Steam page is finally here!

After 2 years of development by a "one man team", it's all coming to life (probably) by jun 2018 as an Early Access version.
The game price hasn't been defined yet, as for some other things that need to be settled, but I'm planning to post news and changes here as often as I can.

Every help and feedback will be appreciated!

Will probably have fixes pretty soon... But Happy New Year everyone! :)

  • Added new ships: 3 for Venghi (2 replacing old ones), 2 for Red Skull (replacing old ones) and 2 for Children of Terra.
  • Red Skull ships have ramming (melee) weapons integrated with each model. The damage increases according to relative velocity of impact, your ship's mass, if using impact boosters and has a bonus if doing a spinning roll.
  • Added 3 Venghi exclusive weapons (For now they will still use other weapons).
  • Civilian stations are now hostile if you have 'Marauder' Perk.
  • Increased 'Lone Wolf' reputation caps to better suit it's intended Sandbox style.
  • Red Skulls will no longer attack mercenaries for no reason.
  • Now you can buy any ship from your background faction regardless of reputation.
  • Added a rotating turret for Dorothy ship model.
  • You can no longer acquire the perk 'Indoctrinated' from 'Pirate'.
  • Now you can type weapon name without triggering game commands.
  • Crafting: Continuous modifier Tech Level requirement reduced to 3 from 5.
  • Fixed towing ships that was way too low and increased slowing mode effectiveness.
  • Added option to turn Auto-Save On/Off.

Mostly balance and fixes :)

  • Added two new songs (chill and tense ambient).
  • Enemies higher level than the player are now harder to defeat (starting at level 10) according to the level difference.
  • Reduced quantity of items needed for freighter quests, especially for rare items.
  • NPCs can no longer move your ship while docked.
  • Reputation gains for buying goods now only goes up to friendly (1000) and won't have any effect when hostile (-1000) or lower.
  • Updated Portuguese (Brazil) localization.
  • Fixed Doom Cannon not using ammo.
  • Fixed projectiles colliding with jump gates.
  • Fixed a BUG when getting location for quests.
  • Fixed galaxy map sectors not updating color after reputation changes.
. Early Access Launch!:
With great pleasure I announce the launch of the Early Access of Star Valor!

After two and a half years in development, by a "one man team" (not to mention the collaborators, of course), the game is now live!

As it is Early Access, I am already grateful to those who choose to acquire the game now, and I count on the participation of all of you to make the game the best possible for full release, which should be in 2019. There is a lot of work and the will to do it.

Hey everyone! In this patch I decided to show some love to the Relations skill tree with a "boost" to mercenaries. I also added new shiny things (with easter eggs maybe?) to look at.
In this patch, new models (ships and venghi bases) were made by Xyranoth, who is now helping on modeling too, so Warsoul don't get overloaded :)

Next patch will take a bit longer since it will be story/quest related, plus the Syndicate ships patch. For now, enjoy :)

NOTE: Again, new ships will only be available to purchase in newly generated sectors or new games. Venghi bases, however, will replace old models in old save games as well.
- Laious

  • Spaceship balance: All Yachts and Corvettes had their equipment space changed (mostly increased).
  • Added 2 Venghi Station models.
  • Added 2 independent (civilian) ship models: Galaxy and Komb-E. Both are intended for story quest use but players can try them as well.
  • Fighter Pilot and Fleet Commander knowledge now cannot be higher than your character level and are harder to obtain: The higher the level, the more enemies you need to defeat (Elite and Bosses are more effective).
  • Fleet Commander now gives bonuses to mercenaries and followers: +0.5% damage per point and 2% Damage Reduction for each 5 points. This bonuses are twice as effective with Leadership skill (Relations).
  • Mercenaries and followers will repair their ship and restock ammo (if available) when close to friendly Stations. Other NPC ships can also do that.
  • Elites now drop 1 item instead of 2.
  • Bosses now drop 2 items instead of 3 but the quality can be up to Legendary (orange, very tiny chance).
  • Added option to turn bump damage (collision) on/off when starting a new game. Existing save games will have it set to 'Off'.
  • Added some background reflections to improve visuals.
  • Fixed ship repair costs for 10% being higher than full repair.
Complementary fixes - 28/Aug/2018. Patch 1.1.3:
Hey everyone! Some cool little changes this time, including very requested ones. Be advised that all station markets were reset and so was the player trader codex records.

  • Galaxy Map now shows when you have items stored on each sector.
  • Sectors were optimized to only generate certain data when they are visited/explored, drastically reducing file size and saving time. Old save games will not have it's entire data altered, however when new sectors are generated they will benefit from this change.
  • Stations minimum market level raised to 4 from 3 and now they will sell items down to 35 levels lower, instead of 30.
  • Station markets will no longer update item prices immediately after a purchase or sale, it will be made once every 30 minutes.
  • Traders and White Collars (background perks) now see market prices as different colors according to base price: Green when good deals, yellow when neutral and red when bad prices.
  • Increased starting galaxy size.
  • When exiting a jump gate, now your ship will be further away from the portal to avoid going back in, the distance varies according to ship size.
  • Changed experience perk "Technology" to give bonus Tech Level instead of a normal point.
  • Fixed (again) tractor beam. Slow mode now really acts as a counter to target's impulse drive.
  • Damage numbers from fast firing weapons will be added together just like continuous beams.
  • Spotlight status is now persistent.
  • Hired mercenaries will no longer become your enemy if you damage them, but they also won't give any reward if you kill them.
