You understand both these places take reductions from their revenue generated by revenue through their platforms right? They don't do it for RuneScape gold charity, and jagex is surely more than large enough not to get any particular status. Steam take epic take 12% and a 30% reduction. There is no way they do not attempt to make money from sales runescape creates through their store. Thus from jagex's position, they will need to know that being on these shops would make them more cash than it is likely to cost to get them on and go through all the logistics required for that. It's probably better to spend money on advertisements and keep the profits in house.

In case RuneScape does move on Steam, they will surely get enough new players to earn enough cash that the 30% would be a non-factor. Can't talk for Epic though even though it's only 12%, they may not be able to recover the price should they go on there. Personally though, I'd rather they wait till Runescape 4 (Around 2023 is my estimate) which has enough modern mechanics to make it compete with other MMORPGs. It would be pointless. Access is provided by game stores but don't have.

It might be quick short-term profit, but any new individual wouldn't be anticipating this type of game to be in the store leading to only F2P or just 1/2 month subscription. Then you would have to take care of the negative reviews which are very likely to come from them since RS is a really slow build up to end-game content compared to the typical action-packed or speedy gratification of their other matches on the platform. Would being on steam give enough money? We are not only discussing the cut, we are talking about the money spent making RuneScape fulfill the prerequisites steam has.

I really don't understand what they are but they're at least going to include writing a launcher that can work through steam. Steam also distributes updates for games on the stage so again you have to have a means to get the upgrade through 2 channels at the exact same moment. Not impossible tasks although not 5 minute types. And that means you have to ask, what could it do? Sure being in steam might increase visibility of RuneScape, but does it require it? Runescape's problem isn't that people have not heard of RuneScape - it is that people don't wish to play it. Even people who have never played an MMORPG in their life have heard of runescape.

The issue is getting them to perform, would being on matters like steam assistance that? But it is not certain. Steam has games using their launchers, although I might be talking out of my ass here. The RuneScape client has its own launcher, just without a user interface that is fancy. They'd only need to get the wrapper on steam/epic, which would just have to get upgraded when there are major client updates where you need to redownload it from the site (which does not happen frequently, right?). Not sure how they'd handle revenue sharing. All of RuneScape purchases are currently done not and through a weblink in RuneScape match, but they could mplement a steam shop for buy RS gold runecoins keys.
