If you or your employees publish video content for your small business on YouTube, chances are you'll want to have that content available at business meetings. And often, if you're presenting material at conferences without Internet connection or from computers without the necessary plug-ins, it helps to have that video material also available on a DVD. Once you've obtained an Internet browser plug-in to copy your online media to your hard drive, you can easily download the video from YouTube and to format it onto disc with a DVD authoring utility.
Download and install a video download plug-in that is compatible with your Internet browser. Options include Free Video Downloader for Internet Explorer, Video DownloadHelper for Firefox and YouTube Downloader for Firefox, Chrome or Opera (see links in Resources).
Launch your Internet browser once the plug-in has been safely installed and visit the Web page for the YouTube video. Wait for the content to load and start playing.
Click the icon for the video download plug-in on the Internet browser window. Follow the on-screen instructions to copy the media to your hard drive.
Download and install a DVD authoring utility. A few options include Freemake Video Converter, DVDVideoSoft Free Studio and DVD Flick (see links in Resources).
Insert a blank DVD-R into your computer’s DVD-ROM drive.
Launch the DVD authoring utility. Select the “Add” command and browse for the downloaded YouTube video in the file selection window. Select the item and click “Open” to import the media into the program.
Select the “Create DVD” command and follow the on-screen instructions to publish the YouTube video. Each suggested program shows a confirmation message when the media is formatted onto the disc.
Remove the formatted disc from your computer’s DVD-ROM drive. Load it into a DVD player and screen the content to make sure that it's been safely uploaded. Save the DVD in a dust-free case and store it for easy access.
