World of Warcraft Classic will be based on patch 1.12

Blizzard announced today that World of Warcraft Classic are going to be set in patch 1.12: Drums of War. In a developer update, Blizzard stated it chose patch 1.12 “because it represents probably the most complete version in the classic experience.”

Players are actually debating for months — since reveal of World of Warcraft Classic last BlizzCon — in what “Classic” truly means. Is it 1.1? Is it a final patch of “vanilla WoW?” What is the true World of Warcraft experience for old-school players? With the announcement today, Blizzard has answered that question.
