I don't write many reviews but I felt like I had to after completing this game. As a result, this is now the second game I've reviewed that has Satan in it.

This is a 'Point & Click' adventure game which follows the story of centuries old John Yesterday, a mysterious man who seeks to find out who he really is, as well as the origin of his immortality and 'The Order of the Flesh' - the Satanic cult that started it all. The problem is, everytime John dies he loses his memory.

This game is, at times, violent and very puzzling (which is what we all want out of point and click games). Additionally, the story kept me going as I wanted to know more about John Yesterday and all the lives he had lived. It is also very good looking; we are taken through various time periods and scenes as we follow the characters this game has to offer. Without spoiling anything, a part of me wishes there were multiple endings (as in the first game), although the lack thereof helps to tie a nice bow on John Yesterday's story.

+ Mysterious story-line
+ Immersive soundtrack
+ Great characters
+ Dark humor which is always fun

- May need a walkthrough
- Occasionally answers to puzzles don't make sense

If you are interested in this game I would recommend playing the first one although it is not completely necessary. . This is another really great game, art and story - and it is a game for mature audiences with topics like torture, violence and murder lurking in the air; sometimes shown, sometimes just hinted at.

And yes it's true, the user interface may need some getting used to even with a gamepad. But it is also something fresh and unique that no-one has done before (like LA's coin UI). If you don't have one, do yourself some good and get an Xbox 360 controller. It will benefit you in so many games except you're just playing traditional PnC adventures all the time.

In the contrary to some other re-interpretations of the genre the core mechanics are those of a proper classical adventure - inventory system, combination of inventory items, dialog/dialog options and event-based dialog, exchanging items with other characters.

Some stuff is easy in this game but I'm now having my second show stopper being stumped on how to proceed or what I might have overlooked; the interaction possibilities of the UI like "self exploration" demand some out-of-the-box thinking you may not be used to from traditional adventures.

And please, don't let people tell you you don't need to play the first part and just this one - this sequel spoilers all the important and mysterious plot points and twists en passant at the very beginning of the game without much tension or excitement. Do yourself a favor - don't get spoiled, play the first game FIRST, then enjoy this sequel to enrich your Yesterday experience with more background story and mystery. The first part is genious in that regard because it will disturb you totally at the end of the very first chapter and then start to raise so many questions whose threads just come together at the end of the game.
. Awesome adventure game! If you liked the first one you'll surely LOVE this one!

Pros:
- pretty good in its genre (point & click)
- funny, exciting and interesting story
- great voice acting
- much more content than in the first game (about 8 - 9 hours!)

Cons:
- controls needs to be get used to
- music is dull. Being a huge fan of Pendulo Studios' games I'm kinda disappointed... this edition seemed to be lacking the humour the past few games had. That tongue on cheek vibe seems to have passed being replaced instead by some jokes here and there. I missed having the spacebar be the hotspot shortcut, but most of all the lack of any sort of hint system was a real let down.
I know that relationships and characters get complex the more the story lasts, but I couldn't get truly invested in John and Pauline's relationship, they don't really seem to like each other. Gone is the emotional support of the past as well as the sense of adventure on both accounts. Pauline talks of John as if he's some sort of baggage. I'm all here for exploring the complexities of a long time relationship but it seemed like there were snide comments here and there and not any real development. I also couldn't get past John's actual story, it seemed like he's been a passive character for all of his life and his reedeeming arc didn't feel fully realized. I'm not sure the implications of Pauline being forced to bring up a child are taken into account, that's pretty effed up on its own account. To add insult to injury having that baby be an incarnation of your partner gets a bit... iffy.
Having had characters like Liz or the Blind Master I do have faith that in the future the studio will come up with new and interesting fun adventures filled with a colourful cast. I just can't recommend this one.. Meh. Very point'n'click if you're into that king of fetish.. An entirely unnecessary sequel. It ends up creating more questions instead of answering any. There are to many characters in this game. This means that some of the newer characters to not have enough time to be properly fleshed out, and they end up just being ridiculous characatures. There are still lots bugs in this game. You are better off just playing the original, and ignoring this one.. Awesome story, great dialogues, fantastic hand drawn art style, puzzles are not too hard, good soundtrack.
It's a great sequel to "Yesterday" which is equally amazing.

Highly recommend this game to anyone even remotely into Point&click games.. Warning: May contain moon logic.
