Three Days is a survival/crafting game that is beyond u2665u2665u2665u2665ing merciless but feeds you just enough hope each time it breaks its foot off in your backside to keep your quest to build a ship and escape a terrifying isle of demonic were-chickens alive. The game's insane difficulty comes from the sheer speed at which it moves; you have, as the title helpfully reminds you, three days in which to construct your vessel from the various raw materials lying around on the island before a nuclear bomb wipes you and your black paradise off the map. This translates into roughly fifteen minutes in real-time and at least half of those will have you cowering from hordes of SCPs behind makeshift barricades every time the night swoops in. On top of the sheer stress of having to put together an entire boat in a quarter of an hour, you'll also have to manage your hunger, thirst and heat levels, having to construct campfires to cook raw meat and keep you warm at night and a means to purify sea water so you don't get sick. It is madness. Vicious, panic-inducing madness that will take many attempts to suss out the various combinations of items needed just to stay alive. Thankfully, there is an Endless Mode that removes the time limit and allows you to get somewhat comfortable with the entire experience before you throw yourself into the full game. There is no joy like blundering over the combination to construct your first lump of ship sideboard, just as there is no despair quite like looking at Three Days ' insane spider-web of a crafting tree for the first time and realising that you are going to die in this cruel place. My sweaty first attempts are below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKJ0S5C17k. Three days is a small, short indie game however don't let that fool you, this is unrelenting. all though I ussually play this offline due to when my internet is down so my hours should be over 20 hours (reallyu2665u2665u2665u2665u2665u2665internet). This game was made by one person and the support, communication and feedback he gives you is unbelievable, he watches lets plays on youtube and reviews to see how he can make it a better game whether that is fixing bugs or a suggestion for the next update, all devs should look at this dev in awe as he is an ideal representation of what a good dev looks like. If you like indie survival games, get this game. If you want to be punished, get this game. If you want to learn to be a good dev, get this game.. It can get pretty difficult and getting used to the auto craft system is rather annoying but having said that, the auto craft allows for a degree of pace to the game that I figure the developers were going for. It's pretty simplistic with the crafting and the goal to escape the island is pretty clear, they've even tried to add story elements which is pretty good considering it's in early access. There is a lot of potential here, much like minecraft in it's early stages to be fair. If you were interested I have recorded the intro and turtorial as well a the first day (after I learn't to play it!) As I find videos are quite helpful in helping me decide to buy games etc. https://youtu.be/HgcWrLMYBAU As well as a full playthrough with the ending on the same channel. The game itself is pretty short, but with generated terrain every time you play is something a bit different. The turtorial isn't much to go off of and you are left learning on the fly which, again, adds to the degree of pace of the game. I'll defo be checking up on it's progress as it updates and keen to see what it becomes.. Well.I just realized this game is E.A. Great. I dont buy E.A., I wishlist it. Been burned too many times, sorry Explains a LOT on my review, the clunkly controls, and the terrible balance. This game seems like it could be really cool. Unfortunately, its not great in its current state. It starts. You are dropped on a randomly generated island. There are chickens and random island stuff (trees, rocks, bushes) that you find in acrafting survival game. Cool. After a brief tutorial during which the (blessedly simple) controls are explained, youre off. I mess around with stuff. So far, so good. Rocks yield smaller rocks and sometimes flint. Trees yield wood and sticks. Theres EXP. I find a piece of paper witha few recepies and settle down to make them, having a blast. All of the sudden, night approaches and the chickens turn into monsters and kill me. What the hell, that was like 5 mins, if that? I hadnt even figured out the base mechanics. I restart. I'm going to make a spear and show those chicken monsters what for! I make a spear (dying two more times in the process as I run around trying to find flint before night), but I cant get my guy to attack with it. Hm. This could be an issue. I pick it up and bring it to my guy, hoping he'll do something. Nope. Night approaches. I swipe the spear over the monsters. I'm killing themby having the spear at my feet (huh?), but theres too many. I die. Ok, fire. Lets try that. I die 3 more times trying to figure out how to get the flint to work. Finally I make a firestarter and chop down a tree. I try to put the firestarter on the sticks. Nothing. How about the wood. Nope. I die twice more. Finally, Ive made a fire, but I dont even know how I did it. Now Ive got a fire. Fun. Whats fun? The fact that every time you get f'n near it or even move around it, your guy sets himself on fire and you have to go dunk yourself. Try to put wood in it, youre on fire. Try to roast something on it. You're on fire. And you're either too hot or too cold. Hang out working on an island, your guy overheats. Go swimming to cool off, now youre too cold. Same thing at night. Too close to the fire? Oh look, youre on fire. Better go dunk yourself. Oops, now I'm freezing Meh. This game could be really cool. I love hard crafting/survival games. Unfortunately it needs a lot of work. Half the time receipes I know wont actually work, the controls arent great, and its not so much "hard" as it is "u2665u2665u2665u2665ing annoying". Hard is like Dark Souls. It requires skill and can be frustrating, but the game gives you what you need to make it, easing you in to it. If you fail, it was you messing up. Hard does not mean "I have no u2665u2665u2665u2665ing clue what I'm doing and oh look I'm dead again." or "These controls aren't doing what I want them to.
