Our ISA server is working in a unihomed configuration(Single network). Today i configured VPN client access in the ISA Server and open the PPTP port in the Cisco router 877 series. When i try to connect from the external VPN client , first the status shows 'connecting' and then 'verifying username and password' and then shows the following error.
'access-list 100 permit GRE any any' 'ip nat inside source static tcp 10.0.0.14 1723 interface Dialer0 1723'
VPN is not supported in a single-NIC mode.

sorry for delayed response, busy week.
GRE packets are allowed in ISA Server but still no luck. There is some other configuration required in router, any one aware this?
Error 806: The VPN connection between your computer and the VPN Server could not be completed. The most common cause of this failure is that at least one internet device between your computer and the VPN Server is not configured to allow Generic Routing Encapsulation(GRE) protocol packets.
Regards, Paulo Oliveira.
Is there any other configuration has to done in the cisco router to allow the GRE packets for VPN access? I google it a lot and i couldnt get any solution. Please help.
Iґll test tomorrow on my lab and let you know.

So, I tested the ISA single-NIC mode and it worked for me. But in my case, ISA was not behind other firewall.

I tried with the windows support tool 'PPTPCLNT' and 'PPTPSRV' , the connection is establishing but the ISA server is not receiving any GRE packets. I already have configured Cisco 877 router to allow GRE packets and port forwarding for PPTP.
Hence, itґs written on this another article: Troubleshooting Unsupported Configurations (section " Configuring ISA Server with a Single Network Adapter Configuration ").
Which refers to both version of ISA (2004/2006) and itґs more updated than above one.

When you install ISA Server on a computer with a single network adapter, the following ISA Server features and scenarios are not supported: Multi-network firewall policy . In single network adapter mode, ISA Server recognizes itself (the Local Host network). Everything else is recognized as the Internal network. There is no concept of an External network. Microsoft Firewall service and application filters operate only in the context of the Local Host network. (ISA Server protects itself no matter what network template is applied.) Because the Firewall service and application filters operate in the context of the Local Host network, you can use access rules to allow non-Web protocols to the ISA Server computer itself. Application layer inspection . Application level filtering is not functional, except for the Web Proxy filter (for HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP over HTTP). Server publishing . Server publishing is not supported. There is no separation of Internal and External networks, so ISA Server cannot provide the network address translation (NAT) functionality required in a server publishing scenario. Firewall clients . The Firewall Client application handles requests from Winsock applications that use the Firewall service. This service is not available in a single network adapter environment. SecureNAT clients . SecureNAT clients use ISA Server as a router to the Internet, and SecureNAT client requests are handled by the Firewall service. Because the Firewall service is not available in a single network adapter configuration, such requests are not supported. Virtual private networking . Site-to-site virtual private networks (VPNs) and remote access VPNs are not supported in a single network adapter scenario.

The link above refers only to ISA 2004, but I was told that on ISA 2006 the remote client VPN access feature works.
*10.0.0.14 is the ISA Server.
