False lashes, also known as fake lashes, are small clusters of synthetic or human hairs that are glued together to make an eyelash. The fake eyelash can be applied in small sections to subtly increase the fullness of your natural lashes or as an entire piece for a dramatic effect. Although false lashes can improve the appearance of your eyes and make your eyelashes seem thicker and longer, they can also cause eye infections and allergic reactions if they are not appropriately applied.

In recent years, the popularity of salon lash extensions has a missile, replacing the use of everyday falsies that women apply at house. Take a look at what each option has to offer you.

Pros-

  1. Accentuating Natural Eyelashes- False lashes can be used by individuals who have thin or short lashes. Incorporating small, individual eyelash sections with tweezers and paste to your eyelash line creates a natural look. Trim your fake eyelashes to a length that matches your natural lashes and then dot a small amount of adhesive on the lash line to create a full look for your eyelashes that will last all day. The finished product is a totally undetectable way to make your lashes look thick and long cheap false eyelashes.
  1. Creating a Bold Look- If you are going to a Halloween party or want a bold, dramatic look, use fake eyelashes that stretch across the entire length of the eyelash line. A full fake lash doesn't provide the natural, undetectable look that false eyelash sections provide. Still, it creates a bold eyelash line that gives the look of drastically longer eyelashes, whether you are standing on a stage or in a dark party. Rather than using the adhesive to your eyelid, the lash adhesive can be applied directly to the fake eyelash, which is then pressed onto the lash line.

Cons-

  1. Infections- False lashes are a temporary way to increase the length and thickness of lashes, but they are not a lasting or everyday solution to thin and short lashes. Wearing false lashes to bed or for more than one day can cause bacteria to collect under the lash adhesive and on the fake lash, causing eye infections. If the lash is not removed carefully and the eyelid is not cleaned with eye make-up remover after the use, infection is possible, even if the lash is not worn overnight. Fake lashes should be worn as sparingly as possible to prevent infections and eye injuries. Also, counterfeit lashes and lash glue should not be shared, as many eye infections, like eye sties and conjunctivitis are contagious and can be passed by sharing eye products.
  1. Allergic Reactions- False lashes and lash adhesive contain chemicals that may cause an adverse reaction in some individuals. Like any make-up, the lash adhesive should be tested on the wrist or your back of your hand 24 hours before applying it to your eyes. If there is a rash, red mark, or the skin swells around the test area, and the product should not be used.
