The Die Casting in Automotive Industry has seen consistent growth in the last few decades. Die casting is a metal casting process involving forcing a molten metal stream under high pressure into a mold cavity within a precise time interval. The mold cavity is manufactured using machine hardened tool steel dies. These dies work similarly to an injection mold during the process of manufacturing of the automobile components. Majority die castings are manufactured from non-ferrous metals such as zinc, aluminum, copper, magnesium, or alloys of composite metals.

On the basis of production process, the pressure die casting process is the most widely used in the automotive industry. The squeeze die casting process is quite similar to the process of pressure die casting.  The molten metal is passed through the narrow slits in the die at high pressure. Both these metals are highly malleable and can be easily molded into any desired shape. On the basis of the application types, the die casting process is the most commonly used for the manufacture of engine parts and other intricate components such as transmission parts. These parts require precise detailing and are of varied sizes, which are difficult to manufacture on a cutting machine directly.
