When you go to the Device Manager Windows, then you will able to see all of the hardware components, and it will offer you a one-stop-shop to diagnose the mentioned hardware. But being software, it also shows error sometimes. One of the errors is that sometimes it doesn’t show the ethernet adapter in the list.

If you are facing this problem, then there is the possibility that it disabled automatically or manually. It can also accrue due to the power surge. If you face this condition, then you can use the following techniques to resolve the issue:

Change LAN Status in BIOS

If the adapter is disabled, then you have to change the status to Enable, and you can find it in the BIOS setting. To do this, you have to follow these steps:

Restart the PC.
As the PC restarts, press the key F1, F2, F8, or F12, which will lead you to the Menu of Setup.
Then you have to go to the BIOS setting using the arrow keys.
Find the Integrated Peripherals, Advanced Tab, OnChip PCI, or Onboard Drives once you find anyone of then press Enter.
Then make sure that these are set as Enabled.
After enabling these settings, press key F10 then hit Y. It will save the changes made by you.
Now, restart the PC and check that the error persists or not. If not, then you have to try the next methods.
Enable the Ethernet Adapter

If you have seen that the error still exists, then you have to make sure that the Ethernet Adapter is enabled. For this method, you have to follow these steps:

Launch the Run (by pressing Windows + R or search run).
Enter the Control in the command line, then press OK.
The Control Panel window will open. Open the Network and the Internet.
Now open the Network and Sharing Center.
Now you have to choose the Change Adapter Settings.
Find the Ethernet Adapter option and right-click on it.
Tap on the Enable from the list.
After these settings, you have to check whether the error persists or not.

Remove CMOS Battery and Install Again

Close your PC.
Now, you have to remove CMOS battery and leave it for some hours.
After the time, reconnect it.
Reboot the PC, wait for some time till the PC recognizes every hardware.
Ensure that you have already changed the sequence from the BIOS to Windows installation from Hard Drive/SSD.
Again check whether the error persists or not.
Clean the dust on LAN Card

When all the mentioned method doesn’t work, then you should try to resolve the error by simply withdrawing the LAN Card.
Use a clean soft piece of cloth to clean the card.
Attach the card again then restart your PC.
Now check whether the error persists now or not.
If you use these steps, then the error will be eliminated, but in case the error still stands strong, then there is a possibility that the LAN card is defective. Try replacing it with a new one.
