There was no Custom MLB Jersey Number Letter pick that made you scream

There was a lot to love about what the Detroit Lions did Friday night on the second day of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Lions grabbed the top running back, a gifted pass rusher and then traded up for a guard, filling three significant needs. And now, I’m going to say something I don’t state very often: Lions general manager Bob Quinn had a fantastic night.

Georgia running back again D’Andre Swift, the second-round pick, strengthens the Lions' working game, that will only help the passing game. And it actually helps the defense, the longer the offense can hold the ball.

Then, the Lions took Notre Dame outside linebacker Julian Okwara with covid-19 iron on sports logo the third pick in Round 3 (No. 67 overall). That should be a familiar name for Lions fans - his older brother is definitely Romeo Okwara, a Lions defensive end.

“Yeah, man, it’s awesome,” Julian said. “I’m virtually speechless.”

You can quibble about the order of the picks - and yes, Lions followers will quibble. They have plenty of reason to be skeptical.

Some might argue the Lions should have taken a defensive participant in the second round, and there is some logic to that argument. There were a bunch of talented defensive players taken in the second round before the Lions got to take one of them.

But there is also a counter compared to that argument: I don’t think Swift was going to last much longer.

Quinn got bold and aggressive.

He traded up to take Ohio State guard Jonah Jackson.

Which was a fine way to end the night.

They filled holes. There was no Custom MLB Jersey Number Letter pick that made you scream: "Why in Calgary Flames customized t shirt print the world!?"

Will all of these players work out? Can they reach their potential? We don't know. But most of these picks made sense.
