Akshata Parekh is a drum circle facilitator at Taal Inc. and has successfully completed The Taal Inc. Facilitator Training Program and intensive six-day training with Arthur Hull (Village Music Circles, USA). She is presently pursuing her master’s in Clinical Mental Health psychology specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University (Boston). She is a counselor and has completed courses in Dance Movement Therapy, Visual Art therapy, and NLP in India. She is a certified ‘Rhythm-to-recovery’ facilitator (a program using rhythm in therapeutic settings). She is a member of the Creative Movement Therapy Association of India. With a constant thirst for learning and exploration, she volunteered for Franciscan Life Process Center, Music Settlement, and Ronald McDonald House in the USA. Her work in the Taal Inc. Art talks program spans over 4 years with special needs- and women’s groups in the area of empowerment. Presently she is also working with Fergusson college and LAHI, where she leads art based workshops to build awareness of the use of arts in the field of health and wellbeing. With a love for dance and in addition to Bharatnatyam, semi-classical, contemporary dance she went on to study West African dance and has performed nationally and internationally. She is a highly enthusiastic & energetic member of the team. With every session, she brings with her – smiles, energy and unconditionality.
