Alex Turcotte, a top forwards prospect for the Los Angeles Kings, was one of eight players selected in the 1st round of the 2019 NHL Draft to become invited to the 2020 World Junior Summer season Showcase.

The nine-day evaluation event is scheduled for July 24 to Aug. 1 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. It is one of the early evaluation events in choosing the roster for the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, which will be held from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5, 2021, in Edmonton and Reddish colored Deer, Alberta.

The Unites States, however, will Art for Sticker Pages not be joined at the showcase by Canada, Finland or Sweden this year, as it has in years past, due to worries surrounding the coronavirus.

In addition to Turcotte (No. 5), forwards Trevor Zegras (No. 9, Anaheim Ducks), Matthew Boldy (No. 12, Minnesota Wild), Cole Caufield (No. 15, Montreal Canadiens) and John Beecher (No. 30, Boston Bruins), defensemen Cameron York (No. 14, Philadelphia Flyers) and Ryan Johnson (No. 31, Buffalo Sabres), and goalie Spencer Knight (No. 13, Florida Panthers) were the other first-round picks invited to the showcase.

The roster, which consists of 43 U.S.-born players, also includes 17 eligible for the 2020 NHL Draft.

Defenseman Jake Sanderson of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program Under-18 team is one of three players projected to end up being selected in the initial round; he's No. 4 in NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of North American skaters. Center Brendan Brisson (No. 20) of Chicago of the United States Hockey League and center Thomas Bordeleau (No. 29) of the NTDP U-18 team are the others.

Forwards Matthew Beniers of the NTDP U-18 group is the only player on the roster qualified to Custom team logo receive the 2021 NHL Draft.

The United States will play in Group B at the 2021 Window Decals WJC along with Russia, Sweden, Czech Republic and Austria, and its preliminary-round online games will be held at Westerner Park Centrium in Red Deer. Group A includes Canada, which may be the defending champion, Finland, Switzerland, Slovakia and Germany, and will play its video games at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
