With the event come new items only available

Rocket League is turning five years old on July 7, and Psyonix is celebrating it with a two-week long event. Starting June 30, players will receive balloons from completing Rocket League Items matches, much like in the usual holiday events. These balloons can be used to unlock unique, new items, as well as some returning ones. A gallery of the items can be seen on the official announcement page.

The fan-favorite Heatseeker will also make its return to Rocket League for the event. It will be its fourth appearance since making its debut earlier this year and its second appearance in its 2v2 iteration. In the first two appearances, the mode was 3v3. Fans continue to ask Psyonix to add Heatseeker as a permanent mode, but at least it is making a frequent return.

With the event come new items only available during the Rocket League anniversary event. Some of these are reimagined or recolored versions of previous items added to the game during different events, while others are wholly new and unique.

But some actually previously existing items will also be obtainable. Loot boxes were removed from Rocket League back in December, which meant that the contents only became available through blueprint drops or by waiting for them in the Item Shop rotation. This event will allow players to use their balloons to buy up to LOLGA five Golden Eggs, which contain random items from the earlier loot boxes (Champions Series 1 – 4) that had been retired for years by the time the Item Shop came about.
