Who invented TikTok?

A social media app called Musical.ly became more popular with the demographics of 12-18 in 2014. The main objective of Musical.ly is the short videos mixed with songs and music(Often called Musers) and purpose to keep the audience entertained through lip-sync videos and dancing cuts. In the mid of 2017, the Musical.ly app has over 210 million users.


A Chinese app developer created a Douyin app in 2016, similar to Musical.ly. Initially, it was launched in China and renamed to TikTok for the international level of presence. Within a year, TikTok has attained its popularity with over 100 million users.


Musical.ly obtained by the ByteDance for an amount of $800 million, in 2017. Then, ByteDance merged TikTok and Musical.ly in the name of TikTok in 2018. Though it attains its reach quickly, TikTok became the most downloaded app in the Apple app store, defeating Whatsapp, Instagram, and YouTube in 2018. Then TikTok has over 550 million total downloads in 2019 on the Google play store.

Instantly, there is no route for the users on TikTok to monetize because of their popularity on the app. As video views on TikTok are vast, users ask their audience to visit other websites or networks to monetize. Judging by my children and their school friends, TikTok is much more popular than Facebook or Twitter. Here is the most requested video for teenagers. I myself sometimes use the free tiktok online viewer to download videos or music from this social network. So far, this is the easiest access to quality content.
