When it comes to understanding your audience and their behavior, data is the only thing you can trust. This is where analytics and insights come to play. They help us with the impacts of our marketing efforts to know which area needs improvement. Instagram insights are the same. It lets Instagram Business Account users see analytics related to their profile and posts. To see Instagram Insights, you must have a business profile. If you’re already using any Instagram account, you can change to a business profile. For changing to a Business Account, you must also have a Facebook Page for your brand. Instagram gives you the option to create a Facebook page during the process if you don’t already have one. To convert your account to a business account, follow these simple steps.

1. Start with creating a business page for your brand or product, if you don’t have one.

2. Keep your Instagram profile public. You cannot use a private profile for a business account.

3. Now, hover to your profile and click on the gear icon. It will take you to the settings page.

4. There, tap on ‘Switch to Business Profile’.

5. Then select the Facebook page you want to link with your business profile.

6. Check your contact information on the Set Up Your Business Profile page and make necessary changes.

7. Click on Done.

After your business Account is set up, you can begin to use your Instagram Insights.

1. Click on the Insights Icon

To watch insights into your overall Instagram account, first, go to your profile. Then click the icon of a bar chart that appears at the top. This will take you to your overall insights page. There you can see some basic information about your post and profile engagement, like how many followers you gained or lost in the past week.

2. View Your Impressions and Reach

This insight tells you about how many times your ads appeared on users’ screens. Reach represents the number of users that have seen any of your Instagram posts.

3. Determine Website Clicks

This tells you how many times any links you have included in your business profile have been clicked.

4. Track Profile Visits and Followers

Profile visits are the number of times your profile has been viewed by someone. Followers show the number of followers you have gained or lost over the past week. It also tells you the average times of day when your followers use Instagram. This data can be very useful when planning posts. To view insights of a particular Instagram post, go to your profile and tap on the post you’d like to look into. Then click on the ‘View Insights’ option below the image.

5. Click View Insights Below Posts for Specifics

Have you promoted any particular post? If that’s the case, an Arrow icon will appear below the post. Now, you can either view insights on the original version of the post, or from the promotion ad you created. In the case of the latter, tap ‘Promotion’.

6. View Post Likes, Comments and Saves

Likes are the number of users who liked your post and comments reflect the number of comments left on your post. Saves refer to the number of Instagram users or accounts who saved your post or clicked on the Bookmark icon that appeared below your posts in their feeds.

7. Learn About the Actions Taken on Your Posts

This insight tells you about the number of actions users took after seeing your posts. This can be visiting your profile, clicking your website link, or following you.

8. Use Discover to Find Where Your Post Showed up in Their Feeds

These insights imply where your post was seen the most. It also tells you about how many accounts weren’t already following you when they first saw the post. This section consists of metrics on Impressions, which is the number of times your post was discovered from a particular place within Instagram. This can be the user’s home feed, a search, your profile, or a hashtag.

9. View Instagram Story Insights

Instagram business profile users can view the insights of their stories as well. To view your story insights, go to your profile, and click on the Bar Chart icon at the top. Now scroll down to the Stories section to see your Story insights.
