Google Messages haven’t received much popularity. There are several other apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger, and Telegram that are way more fun and loaded with advanced features. However, it seems like Google wants to change this by undertaking some leading revamps in its app and services to make it a considerably preferable app for messaging. Or maybe that’s what they hope for.


Messages by Google is a messaging app for Android which almost works like any other messaging app to help you text and chat with your friends, send voice notes to your loved ones and video call your family.

New Features

According to the recent announcement of Google, it is launching five brand new elements to Messages. Though these features are not unique, they are beneficial and will make Google Messages more user friendly.

Like Apple’s iMessage, Google Messages will also have the reactions feature. You will have to press and hold any message to see the love, like, laugh, and other such reactions. Even if it’s not new for people, but for Google, it is. Google Messages has a fantastic feature called Smart Reply. Google is planning to amplify it by adding stickers to it. So when you turn on the function, Smart Reply options will also show you stickers that you can add to make your message more personalized.

The primary purpose of any messaging app is texting and chatting with your friends and family and sharing photos. It seems like Google is learning to understand this as now it has also added an inbuilt image editor via which you can edit your pictures and send them directly. You will also get a color brush to draw over the image and options over texts as well. While the voice message feature was present, sending them is made much more accessible.


The new update will link the video calling feature of Messages with Google Duo. Therefore whenever you click on the video call icon, it will redirect you to the Google Duo video calling.
