Orbi is a whole home WiFi system that connects to your existing modem directly and provides your entire house with a single dedicated wireless network connection. In the Orbi home WiFi system the nodes and modules are all a part of the same single wireless network and therefore they all share the same SSID and password. It comes with an ultra modern product design and the futuristic tri band WiFi technology and so your whole home can attain hyper fast WiFi that is very secure and that reaches at every nook and corner of your home. Mywifiext.net is a local website that contains all information regarding the Orbi home WiFi system and also has instructions on how to set it up.

The Setting up criteria:

The most important thing to keep in mind before you go on to set up your Orbi Outdoor Satellite is that the Orbi mode is compatible only with an Orbi router.

Thus if you have a non Orbi router you need to set up your Orbi Outdoor satellite in Extender mode.

We will discuss below the set up process of your Orbi Outdoor Satellite in Extender mode using the local web page mywifiext

Setting up your Orbi Outdoor Satellite in the Extender mode:

As your device is set to the Orbi mode by default, it is only compatible with an Orbi router. You can connect your Orbi Outdoor Satellite to your router too if you own a non Orbi router.

The process is explained below in detail:

1. Place the Orbi Outdoor Satellite physically close to your router. This physical proximity is needed only for the set up process. Post the set up the satellite and router can be placed almost anywhere.
2. Plug in your satellite but make sure that the power button is off on your satellite. If it is on you have to press the power button to turn it off.
3. Press the “Sync” button and while you are still pressing the “Sync” button you will have to press the power button to turn on your satellite. Continue to press on the “Sync” button all this while.
If by chance you release the “Sync” button, switch off your satellite and repeat the entire process again.
4. The bottom LED light will turn on. Wait for the LED to light up to white and then to blue and only then release the “Sync” button.
5. Look for one of the following LED pulse after you release the “Sync” button.
If your LED lights up to a pulsing blue, that means that your satellite is setting up and is changing from to the extender mode from its default Orbi mode. The LED will pulse blue for a few minutes.
If your LED lights up to a solid blue, that is the indication that your Orbi Outdoor Satellite is in the Extender mode and is ready to be synched with a non Orbi router.
6. Connect to your extenders network (Netgear_ext) from your device.
7. Launch any web browser and type in mywifiext.net. Login with your credentials. The installation assitant will automatically get displayed on the page.
8. Follow the prompts on the mywifiext and connect your Orbi Outdoor Satellite to your WiFi network.
9. The LED light on the bottom of your Orbi Outdoor Satellite will denote the nature of your connection to your non Orbi router.
10. If the LED lights blue, it indicated a good connection and you can rest assured that your non Orbi router and your Orbi Outdoor Satellite have synced successfully. The light first turns blue for about three minutes and then turns off.
If the LED lights amber, it indicated a fair connection and you can rest assured that your non Orbi router and your Orbi Outdoor Satellite have synced successfully but the connection is just fair. You can try and place the satellite closer to your router to make the connection good. The light first turns amber for about three minutes and then turns off.
If your LED turns Magenta post the synchronising it indicates a failed connection. Your non Orbi router and your Orbi Outdoor Satellite have failed to sync successfully with each other. You might have to move your satellite physically closer to your router and try the entire process again by following the same steps mentioned above.
