Are you aware that overloads can cause your electrical equipment to be destroyed or damaged, and in rare situations, even a fire? A fuse or MCB is used to safeguard your device against overload. If an electrical circuit is overloaded, a fuse or an MCB will interrupt the flow of power, causing the circuit to short out.

The objective of utilising an MCB or a fuse is the same, however the devices' working principles are different. Both a fuse and a miniature circuit breaker are intended to safeguard electric equipment and you from short circuits or other types of electrical faults.

When there is an unexpectedly high voltage of electricity passing through an electric device, the MCB and fuse interrupt the flow of current. They also interrupt the flow when the temperature of the electric device rises, which can cause a short circuit or a miss.

The MCB detects the excessive current flow and cuts the circuit quickly. The MCB knob tripping action can be observed here.
