How to get a Driver's Licence as a fresher?

How to get a Driver’s Licence as a fresher?

In Canada, how do you get a driver’s license for the first time?

The Graduated Licensing Program is what you’ll need to do in most places. A lot of the time, there are three steps:

Take a written knowledge test (and sometimes an eye test). You will get a Learner’s Permit if you do well. You can’t drive on your own with this permit. You will always need to be accompanied by a driver who knows how to drive well when you do this (with a full license).

After a year of practice, you will be able to take a road test to get an intermediate permit, so you can drive on the highway. Drive alone, but you can’t use any electronic device, even if it’s hands-free. You also can’t drink or take drugs.

One to two years after you’ve been on the road, you’ll be able to take the full license road test.

Be aware that these three steps (and the years between each test) are not exact. Each province or territory has its own rules. For more information on how to get a driver’s license for the first time, click on the province or territory where you want to go. This will give you the more detailed information.
