India's men's badminton team clinched their maiden Thomas Cup title on 15 May 2022 by defeating 14-time champions Indonesia 3–0 in the final. It was held in Bangkok.

Kidambi Srikanth defeated Jonathan Christie 21-15, 23-21 in two straight games to clinch the coveted title in the decider.

Lakshya Sen beat Olympic bronze medalist Anthony Ginting of Indonesia 8-21, 21-17, 21-16 in the opening singles match to give India a 1-0 lead in the Thomas Uber Final 2022.

Indian doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Mohammad Ahsan and Kevin Sanjay Sukamuljo in the first doubles match to give India a 2-0 lead in the final.

India was playing the final for the first time in this tournament. In this title battle of five matches, India won three consecutive wins. These included two singles and one doubles.

After this victory, the Union Sports Ministry announced a prize money of one crore for the Indian team.

This is the first time that the Sports Ministry has announced a reward for winning any badminton tournament other than the Olympic, Asian and Commonwealth Games.

The Indian team got its only defeat in the group stage match against Chinese Taipei in the journey to the final.

India has become the sixth country to win this tournament. Indonesia is the most successful team in the Thomas Cup. So far, he has won the title 14 times.

The Chinese team, which has been participating in this tournament since 1982, has won 10 and Malaysia has won 5 titles. Japan and Denmark both have one title each. The Thomas Cup has always been won by Asian countries.

Denmark was the first non-Asian team to win the title in 2016.
