New Corvette C8.R-themed watch lineup released

Last year, Corvette Racing fans watched with delight as the new Corvette C8.R swept past Porsche and BMW's IMSA rivals to six victories in 11 races and helped Chevrolet take another GTLM title.

Now, Corvette Racing presents an opportunity to celebrate the successful first season of the Corvette C8.R with a new collection of watches designed in collaboration with French watchmaker Bernard Richards Manufacture (BRM).

There are currently four different Corvette C8.R BRM watches. The first of these timepieces, known as the "#3", features C8.R racing stripes on the front, the Jake logo engraved in yellow on the metal adjustment buttons, and the American flag on the crown. There is also one called "#4" which has the same design but with a grey face. Enthusiastic Corvette Racing fans will know that the #3 Corvette C8.R is painted in yellow, while the #4 Corvette C8.R is painted in dark grey. fake watches for sale

Completing the lineup are the "V6" and "V12" watches. The carbon fiber finish of the V6 features integrated dampers, C8.R badges and yellow arms. Meanwhile, the V12 is essentially a chrono version of the V6, with a similar design, with carbon faces and yellow arms. These watches also feature a Jack skull pattern on the crown.

Several well-known automakers sell beautifully crafted branded watches to wealthier clients. That's perhaps not something the General's Chevrolet division would consider for most of its vehicles, with one notable exception. So why is there no such thing as a Corvette watch?

To illustrate this, let's look at three examples where this has happened. In 2002, Bentley commissioned Breitling to design the clock for its upcoming Continental GT model, which went on sale the following year. Since then, Breitling has been creating exclusive Bentley Automatic replica watches, most notably the Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Bentley Centenary Limited Edition.

Meanwhile, Ferrari collaborated with the Movado Group to produce a range of watches. Perhaps surprisingly, these are significantly cheaper than the aforementioned Bentley watches.

Porsche took a different approach. The German manufacturer's design group has created a subsidiary called Porsche Design Timepieces, which has been producing Porsche watches since July 2014. They are usually more expensive than Ferrari watches, but cheaper than Bentleys.

As we reported last month, the Corvette watch has arrived, inspired by the success of Corvette Racing and the C8.R in the 2020 IMSA GT Le Mans Championship. This may seem similar to the case with Bentley and Ferrari, but it's really just a case of watchmaker Bernard Richards Manufacturing (BRM) licensing the Corvette name and using GM's Jack Skull logo. As far as we know, the GM, Chevrolet or Corvette teams have no opinion on the high quality replica watches.

However, a real Corvette watch, designed (at least in part) by the Corvette team (even in partnership with existing watchmakers), should be a no-brainer. It is very difficult to lose money because such a product attracts a wide range of potential customers.

The most obvious of these are Corvette owners who would love to own one. Besides true Corvette owners, another group that loves to own a Corvette-branded watch designed by the Corvette team are Corvette fans (who don't necessarily own a Vette). This group is likely to be much larger than actual Corvette owners, expanding the potential reach of the proposed Corvette timepiece.

Corvette watches can take any number of orientations, including models commemorating each generation of Corvette. Chevrolet could go even further and offer a timepiece that celebrates each sub-model, such as the Stingray, Grand Sport, Z06 or ZR1, or special editions of them.

For those looking to create the ultimate connection between their Corvette and their timepiece, Chevrolet also lets existing owners order the watch ordered with their car and on the watch face, back or elsewhere. Not to mention special edition watches that pay homage to important occasions, such as motorsports victories.Jacob & Co. Epic X Chrono
