Benjamin Franklin once said: “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.”

This still seems to be the way of life for many CEOs in today’s world, especially for Wayne Crowlsey, the CEO of Cayenne Supplies, Inc. We all have the same 24 hours available to us in a day. How do CEOs make the best use of their time? We interviewed Mr. Wayne Crowsley to get a small glimpse of a typical day in his life.

What are your mornings like?

I wake up at 4:30 am every morning. Although I do have an alarm clock, it’s become a natural habit and I tend to wake up before the alarm goes off. When I wake up I meditate for 20 minutes and head over to the gym. I have a gym at home but there’s something rejuvenating about working out with other early birds. At around 6:30am, I head home, eat breakfast with the family, read the newspaper and emails and then head on over to the office.

When do you get home?

I always leave the office after 8pm. My days typically do vary because I’m traveling more often these days. For some, that’s late and for many other CEOs like me, that’s actually pretty early. It’s definitely time that works for my productivity, the business and for my family life.

How many hours of sleep do you get?

That’s a hard question. Anywhere between 5 to 7 hours depending on the work season. I try to go to sleep by 11 pm every night.

Do you email throughout the day?

I, Wayne Crowsley, am always available. It’s a must. My computer at work, my phone and tablet are the top three ways that I stay on top of my email. So yes, I always email throughout the day.

What are your weekends like?

Weekends are sacred. My weekends are dedicated to my family and my spiritual life. I may go to my son’s baseball game. Attend my daughter’s recital. Have a special dinner with my wife. Or attend a church service on Sunday morning.

All in all, in order to have a more balanced and productive life, CEOs like Wayne Crowsley tend to develop a morning ritual that works for them. They use those mornings to spend time to themselves and reboot. Then throughout the day, they are focused on their work and they schedule time to also pay attention to things that are valuable to them, life family. This type of lifestyle can definitely give a boost to the quality of someone’s professional and personal life.
