Different Ways in Which Metals Can Be Cut

Metal profile cutting services in a city like Cape Town are immensely popular in the manufacturing sector. When a particular structure is being constructed, metal sheets of various shapes and sizes require cutting on a regular basis. Metals like aluminium, stainless and standard steel are required by builders from time to time. Profile cutting services, are available in various types.

In the past, primitive methods were used to cut metals. For example, even the toughest of metals were cut into different shapes using manual methods. For instance, the use of a hacksaw to shape even the hardest of metals was a very common practice. The situation today is drastically different to the past. Nowadays everything depends upon the requirement of the client or the customer. This also points towards the fact that the demand has increased by an enormous degree. Manual cutting services in a situation like this will take a lot of time, plus, the quality will also not match the requirement.

Situations and demands like these have led to the introduction of a number of metal cutting technologies, which today have undergone a number of developments, to improve the quality of metal cutting. In the present time, metal profile cutting services is becoming more and more popular. The following are a few methods which are widely used in metal cutting, especially for scaffolding purposes.

Popular Methods of Metal Cutting:

1. The Process of Laser Cutting:
This is perhaps the most popular method of cutting metals, in the modern world. This is so well-known and widely used because of the amount of precision that can be achieved with this method. The process of laser cutting is relatively straightforward too. It involves the use of a highly concentrated laser beam of a very high temperature. This beam is steady and when moved over a metal surface, very easily cuts through it. For scaffolding needs, this process can be used for giving the surface of the metal a very smooth finish.

2. Cutting Metal with Plasma: This is another method which is almost as equally popular as laser cutting. This method makes use of heat. It involves a torch which is needed to pump out combustible air at an extremely high speed. All this is done, while electricity is passed through the air. This leads to the creation of hot plasma, which has the power to melt down any kind of metal. This is also used to blow away molten metal, resulting in a clean cut. There is one negative however, the accuracy of plasma cutting is not as perfect as that of laser cutting.

3. Shaping Metal Using a Flame: This is another method which is employed by many. This method, by the procedure, is extremely like laser cutting. The main difference in this method is that, in place of a laser, a hot gas flame is used, which is of a temperature around three thousand five hundred degrees. The cutter that is used in this procedure is known as an oxy cutter.
