Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn director Naoki Yoshida confirmed which the reason the MMO isn't coming over to a Microsoft console is due towards the hardware manufacturer's restrictive online policies that prevent cross-platform play.

This isn't the situation with Final Fantasy 14 Gil Sony, hence why the PS3, PS4, and PC versions with the rebooted MMO all will be able to spend playtime with each other.

"The major reason from our side is I don't want the community to get divided; being split into a couple of," said Yoshida in a interview with RPGsite.
