What Should I Look for When Buying a Watercraft (Boat, Jet Ski, Etc.)

Welcome to the wonderful world of water sports. I’ve been involved in speed boating, water skiing, wake boarding and Kawasaki jet skiing for 15 odd years now and in my time have owned several machines!

Below is a bit about my experiences (based around the North West Of England & Wales) and some advice if you so desire!

So my jet ski is called a Seadoo 3D. It’s a bit unique as it’s the only jet ski which is a hybrid with 3 skiing positions.

Kart mode - Sit on the floor in a bucket seat. This is the best mode as you can absolutely nail it around corners!

Moto mode - The seat pulls down from the handle bar pole so it rises like a normal “couch” ski.

Then stand up mode which is well…... as it says on the tin! (Yes I know it’s cheating and not the same as a normal stand up but I get a pass as I did stand up with my old Yammy for years!).

I used to own a normal stand up ski for a long time which was great fun to master but not very friendly. My mates never wanted to try it for fear of humiliation and it sucked on the sea. (I wasn't of a high enough standard to enjoy it in the rough).

So I have the best of all worlds now, a stand up when I want to play and sit down versions for speed, cruising and in kart mode fierce lap times!

So in terms of trying to justify purchasing a jet ski here we go!

Expense of course is the main issue.

Well jet skiing isn’t free but it isn't as painful as boating and you have a lot more flexibility in terms of where you can go and the fun you can have!

So if I run through a quick breakdown of cost it will give you an idea.

Many of these islands are self-owned with some having golf courses, tennis courts and several clubs. The price will depend on the size of the island and amenities available. Get more information about boat rentals on the site boatrental sdestinfl.
