Ovulation pain is classified into two types: a sharp, sudden twinge and a constant, dull cramp that occurs somewhere in the middle of your cycle (14 days before your menstrual period due date). Ovulation pain is most commonly felt on both sides of the pelvis or lower abdomen, between the umbilical cord and the groin.
