아르바이트란 정식 취업 준비가 안 된 남자들이나 고액이 더 필요한 어른들 등이 본래 직업 이외에 부업으로 기간 한정으로 하는 돈벌이이다.
아르바이트의 의미는 다음과 같다.
처음에는 '학생이나 무직자이 본업 이외의 돈을 얻기 위해 밤알바 하는 일' 을 뜻했으나 현재는 시간제 근무 또는 계절적·일시적 형태의 생계활동도 아르바이트에 포함한다.
좀 더 넓게 보면 계약직, 비정규직 역시도 아르바이트로 볼 여지가 있긴하다. 하지만 보통은 계약직, 비정규직은 일주일에 40시간 이상 일하고, 기간도 1년 단위 이상이 보통이기 때문에 아르바이트로 보지 않는 관점이 더 지배적이다.
대개 일주일에 20시간 이하로 일한다. 풀타임 잡은 보통 30~35시간 이상을 일한다.
아르바이트의 어형
공식 이름은 시간제 근무, 영어로는 Part-time Job이라고 하는데…
