A Guide to Buying Single Handle Bathroom Sinks

Mono basin faucets - or single handle basin faucets - are perhaps the most popular style of basin tap found in modern day bathrooms. As the name implies, they consist of a single handle faucet with one spout and require only a single sink hole from which both hot and cold water is dispensed. Many single handle faucets also have an adjustable spray head that allows the user to fine-tune the stream of water. This feature is especially helpful for those who have both hot and cold weather conditions. Another benefit of these faucets is that they eliminate the need for an extra supply of plumbing as well as eliminate the need to frequently change out plumbing supplies.
Single handle bathroom sinks can be fitted with a basin tap as well as a cold water pipe. The advantage to this style of sink is that it provides a single, consistent water flow and eliminates the need for adjusting water pressure and temperature. These types of sinks are also particularly useful in older bathrooms that are made of cast iron or other porous materials that can absorb stains easily. With older bathroom plumbing, replacing old single handle taps and pipes with new, more resilient ones is often necessary to prevent damage and excessive corrosion of the cast iron pipes. For cast-iron bathroom sinks, cast iron single-handle faucets are an excellent choice.
Wall mounted basin taps are also popular in bathrooms that have single handles, but because wall mounted sinks can often take up more space than conventional single handle models, they are not as popular. However, the added functionality and aesthetic appeal of wall mounted basin taps, including attached shower heads, make them a viable option for many bathrooms. They can be fixed directly to the wall and some models may include a hand rail attached to the wall. If so, then the entire unit can be mounted onto the wall with the hand rail as a seamless part of the basin tap's body. This type of unit will require separate installation than one would use for a single handle bathroom sink.
