Affordable Education: The Least Expensive Law Schools in the U.S.

Law school is a challenging and often expensive professional pursuit. In addition, finding a relatively affordable essay writing service that also has a good reputation and bar passage rate is difficult. However, attending one of the least expensive law schools in the country saves you tens of thousands of dollars in student loans.

Southern University Law Center

Located in Baton Rouge, La., Southern University Law Center is one of the most diverse law schools in the country. With in-state tuition just over $10,000 and out-of-state tuition fees around $16,000 per year, it is also an excellent value. It received recognition in 2011 from U.S. News and World Report. Approximately 60 percent of students passed the bar in 2009.

North Carolina Central University School of Law

This historically black college prides itself on its commitment to public service, and focuses on helping those who are undeserved. Full-time in-state tuition is less than $11,000 per year making North Carolina Central University School of Law one of the least expensive law schools in the U.S. In 2009 almost 82 percent of students passed the bar the first time, which is significantly more than the state average.

CUNY School of Law

The CUNY School of Law is consistently ranked as the best public-interest law school in the country; it received the title from PreLaw Magazine in 2011. Full-time in-state tuition is under $7,500 per semester and even out-of-state fees are less than $12,000--a rarity among law schools. As of 2010, almost 85 percent of the school's graduates passed the New York bar exam on the first try.

University of the District of Columbia, Clarke School of Law

The University of the District of Columbia, Clarke School of Law has one of the lowest in-state tuition of any U.S. law school with full-time fees under $11,000 per year. Graduates of this school are often dedicated to helping the needy and receive a top education to do so. The school is rated among the best clinical programs in America. This is reflected in the high bar passage rate of its students, which was 88 percent in 2009.

The decision to attend law school is one that requires a high level of commitment. However, with many affordable schools to choose from, it does not necessary have to include a high price tag.
