Education is a basic right for every child regardless of who they are and where they come from. Education is the process of developing and imparting ideas, knowledge, and skill in an individual through a structured curriculum and receiving a patterned set of instruction, especially at a school. It is an essential need that empowers us to create a better and healthy society. The early years of a child are for building the foundation of a solid future through education. The method of education is referred to as pedagogy. A pedagogy should involve discussion, storytelling, teaching, training, and research. The system of education can be a formal or informal method. Formal education can be categorized into preschool (popularly known as kindergarten) level, primary level, secondary level, and tertiary level. Africa Knowledge Hub

The basic right to education is recognized in various parts of the world today. Sadly, millions of children, in a different part of the world, are deprived of their fundamental rights due to obstinate barriers such as poverty, emergencies, and conflict-related cases, gender discrimination, sickness, and disabilities, etc. Research shows that nearly 400 million children don’t know how to read and write because they have little or no access to education. Many children are made to leave school because of the following reasons;

• Nearly 10 million children are on the verge of stopping their education because of emergency cases such as war, the kidnapping of children, etc.

• Approximately 25 million children are not enrolled in school, and 66.67 % of them are girls. Gender discrimination is rampant in many countries. This act of disparity occurs in the early stage of a girl child’s life and has led to the denial of access to education of many female children that are capable of helping the country with sustainable development in the future. While 24.6% are children with disabilities and sicknesses that might have hindered them from learning. Children with disabilities need to be assisted and encouraged, this will make them be confident and not give up on school.

Children with little or no education are likely to remain in the cycle of poverty and may not be able to show their hidden potentials. These children are made to give up on school without proper acquisition of knowledge, ideas, and skill needed to thrive in the outer world As humans, we need to support these children to start their education in a safe and happy environment and also encourage children who have given up primary school to return to school. Every child who has either left school or hasn’t even started school because of the factors mentioned and is of age will be taken care of and provided with a calm environment to encourage quality and sound education. The saying compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity should be our aim if we want a healthy and progressive society.
