I was in Kasol when one of my friends suggested that we go for the Kheerganga Trek. I was hesitant at first but when I learnt that it’s a 2-day trek I thought of going for it. It was quite chilly and going for the Kheerganga trek in December felt challenging. However, when we spoke to a few people around they told us that this is the best time for the trek and that we shouldn’t think twice. The next thing we did was to buy the Kheerganga trek package.
So, we were all set for this adventure and drove to Barshaini, which was the starting point of the trek. The trek began and I was so excited to walk along tall trees and be surrounded by nature, it was such a delight! It was a 6 hr walk but when there is no pollution, no noise, the route seems easier to walk. The Kheerganga trek is not a challenging one and perfect if you’ve 2 days to spare while in Kasol.
On the first day, we walked and reached the Kheerganga campsite well in time to watch the beautiful sunset. The Kheerganga trek route is brilliant with stunning views waiting for you to explore. The walk is also not that tiring I felt energised on the 1st day of the Kheerganga Trek. It was so much fun to camp amidst nature and look at the star-studded sky.
The next day we woke up to the rays of sun falling on the campsite. It was such a beautiful sight to witness. Post breakfast we started our descend to Barshaini, taking the same route. The Kheerganga trek package had come to an end but this short trek was packed with the best of nature and I’m glad I did it. After we reached Barshaini we were driven back to Kasol, as the Kheeranga trek had come to an end.
I think I enjoyed it more than I had thought. After the trek, we spent 3 more days in Kasol exploring this hidden beauty. The next time you’re planning a trip to Kasol, make sure to visit in the winters to enjoy the Kheerganga trek in December. I'm looking forward to a few more short treks in the future, just like the Kheerganga trek.
