Synopsis

Sad single girl listens to music on her Tone pods and remembers when she met her boyfriend, we see through montage the story of their relationship and include the product and the theme – their love of music and in particular this song which is their song. We show the break up and then go back in the café where we find a creative way to create a ‘goose bump’ moment as we bring them back together thanks to the music that they love.

Director’s approach - Cafe

The main idea here is to create a Movie Trailer looking story. It must be very emotive and compelling and for this you need good acting, cinematic locations and shot design.

We can replicate the visual approach from the movie that utilizes the hand held camera to bring energy and realism to the shots, but with prime lenses, shallow depth of field and carefully selected locations that will; give us that ‘movie look’ and appeal.

We will need to add more scenes and locations in order to have enough depth, scale and production value so that it looks and feels like a movie. But with careful planning, we can easily tie certain scenes into one locations and select locations that are near each other.

Whilst we cant film, this in New York we can definitely find similar looking locations, and a vintage American car will also add production value and a very useful visual cue to make it more like a ‘movie trailer’ (especially if shot at night).

I would shoot this on the RED with Leica Primes – that give a buttery look and lovely lens flares. Perfect for that warm, nostalgic – movie look.
